Fuji X10 - Stiff Lens

I've just bought a used X10 and find the lens very stiff when trying to switch the camera off.

Zooming is beautifully smooth, only powering off feels stiff.

Is this normal please?

Mine is slightly stiff. Nowhere smooth like the zoom action.
