A "heat" is a batch of molten steel. Here two specialists "work" it to refine the chemistry by adding alloys and fluxing out residual elements -- all while trying to keep it in a narrow target temperature range. It's not easy work and requires experience to really do it right.

Panasonic G5 and the 12-35mm f/2.8 lens. Although, I ended up recropping this from portrait to landscape so this doesn't necessarily look like the wide angle shot it is.

Nice shot, where you work?

Almost looks animated.

I don't give the steel mill location or name, but it's an east coast mill that's about 100 years old. One of the oldest continuously operating steel mills in the United States. We are owned by a big foreign metals giant these days.

Animated? That's an interesting observation about the look, lol. What exactly suggests that to you? I know some of the supervisors think these guys aren't "animated" enough, lol...
