Really nicely done, Gary! Those kinds of exposure require real attention to details of how your metering works. You got some great stuff technically, compositionally and that "decisive moment" thing as well.
The drama teacher is extremely appreciative. The kids love the images and my stuff is all over their facebook pages. I'll probably get around 15,000 hits on my Smugmug within 24 hours, (there's only a 1,025 kids at WHS). I few people know how much effort is envolved, but you know as well as I, that most people think the images just jump into the camera-phone and then jumps into the computer and you're done. Gary {}
Thanks John. Because of the odd/harsh lighting (kids on spots), I shoot in manual with spot metering. Gary {}
Heck the kids look amazing. School talent days have certainly changed since I was at school. Great shots too.
Some qualifications, Whitney is the number one rated, by standardized testing, public high school in California. Attendance is by invitation only. Last year more than $10M in scholarship monies was accepted and divided amongst 175 seniors (more was offered that was accepted). WHS is also the number one feeder high school of students admitted to our Military Academies. In 2011, IIRC, three WHS students were admitted to West Point, simply extraordinary. These kids are the best of the best and the shows they produce reflects why they're at WHS. The kids are amazing. {} Best of all they support each other. Even kids with sub-par performances, (like some of the individual singers, lol), were not jeered or belittle, but were given shouts of encouragement and applause. WHS is a very different school than the one you or I attended. Gary
