I have a friend who poo-pooed the idea of getting a compact camera with a 35mm fixed lens. He laughed in my face. He said "what are you going to do with a point and shoot? What will you take pictures of??

He laughed me off...sneered at the thought of not having a huge DSLR and a 20 lb 70-200 on it.

Well....this is what you can do with an RX1, two cheap manual flashes, the RX1 pop up flash as a trigger...and two pieces of white tile board from Lowes.

I'm including the set up shot for those who do these kinds of things.

I defy anyone to do better with a DSLR at any price. I know that this easily matches my 5DIII with an L lens.

Are you going to tell us the ending to this story that we're all waiting for?

Excellent results and I guess in the end you are the one laughing because it did everything you needed it to. And THANKS! for the setup image. I am poor at product photography, can't even take a nice photo of a camera to sell and your illustration there helped with how I can set such a thing up.

No problem...I hear you about not being able to take good images...I can do this...but get me to taking an ebay picture?

    Total failure. :)

Just remember, the white background is 1-2 stops brighter than the key and the farther you get the product from the white and light, the better off you are...another foot would have been good but I ran out of room.
