Video worth watching

    Through DPReview's newsletter, I found this video about the creation of Ansel Adam's Moon over Hernandez photograph:

    It describes the circumstances of taking the image, but what I found particularly interesting was the difference between the image as captured on negative and the image as printed. (Frankly, if I had taken the original, I would have thought: "Well, this just didn't work out.")

    Also fascinating is a printing "map" for the image that Ansel created so that he could reproduce the print as needed.

    Ansel would have loved Photoshop.

    it really hammers home two points.

    1. Get the exposure right "in camera"...... he was exposing for the moon.... and he nailed it.
    2. Most of what makes an image into an exceptional image happens in post.
