L'abbaye de Mont Majeur, near Arles in Provence, France

part of an unusual Cemetery where the monks from the Abbey were buried

Their graves were carved out of rock - now all the graves are empty

We have some ancient burial places here in Connecticut. Well, at least in American terms, ancient. This is an older headstone that is relatively intact. Many in this style have crumbled, or the face has spalled or overgrown with moss.
