I'm back. Africa was pretty incredible. I had allllllmost 3,000 images to sort through, and I've only edited a little over half. But here's a beginning... the first park we visited, Tarangire.

He walked right past the truck. I could barely breathe.

I spared you the one where he's picking his nose with his tongue.

When the light stops being VERY bright, the cheap XC 50-230 zoom quickly gets "painterly" with the details. But sometimes painterly is nice.

I'll start other threads for other places, I guess.

wow! You guys were off to a great start, with some beautiful animals! I've had a lifelong fascination with cats, and leopards in particular... I'd love to see them in the wild one day! The one with your daughter and the 2 elephants is priceless!

This was my favorite park. So many pictures to weed through, so many not posted here. Agree about big cats - those were the most exciting thing we saw, for me.

The vehicles are Toyota Land Cruisers. You see almost nothing else out there. They start off as diesel pickups, and an outfitter puts an entirely new back end and top on them, plus seats, powered coolers, windows, and roof.

Wow, what a trip! What great shots! I love the animal shots, but my favorite, for no reason I can come up with, is the third one in the second group with the tree on the right and open plain beyond. Really kind of a zen shot...

The Serengeti... Sorry guys, this is as far as I could whittle it down.

Birthday girl. They baked her a (gluten free, no less) cake out here. Amazing.
