Street Portraits from Pasay and Paranaque

    Some shots from yesterday's walk around Harrison Street and Quirino Street in the Baclaran neighbourhood which straddles Pasay City and Paranaque City.

    Love it. The perpetual happiness and optimism of the Pinoy! The young man in the uniform reminds me of my days wearing khakis and the white short-sleeve polo with the school badge sewn on the left breast pocket. The simpler days...

    Getting harder and harder to photograph young people who DON'T flash the peace sign.

    It's completely routine over here. But until now nobody could tell me why they did it or what it meant. A little digging online came up with this article from Time. It seems that the use of the sign originated in Japan and spread across East Asia and has now of course spread to the US (a little less so in Europe though, I think).
