It's all about being prepared, and Bill is doing an excellent job by setting up the next days page before he turns in for the night, well done cobber.

Not a day for wandering around looking for a photographic opportunity, a wet morning, now cloudy with a northerly gale and a significant drop in the temperature. My planned photo excursion is very much cancelled. So this image was very near at hand.

Rain forecast for today so I got out early. This is a mound behind the old Norman castle mound that still has the remnants of the moat surrounding it.

I have to make do with a "classic" - I had some difficulties exposing my shots correctly today; it was probably mostly me, but lighting did keep changing, too.

Putting up curtain poles this afternoon/evening and this was the sunset I admired through the front bedroom window. Tweaked in LR on the iPad again (starting to like this tool by the way).

The stonemason had recently completed work on my uncle’s headstone (not shown) so we travelled over to the cemetery this morning to check out his good work before making the final payment. I saw this headstone just as we were leaving - I thought a nice, safety shot!

I had hoped that I might get a cheerier picture afterwards at the nearby beach but when we arrived there my mum became suddenly very tired. I understood why. Her parents, brothers, husband and son now, reluctantly, call that cemetery home. Being there makes her feel empty inside. So instead of photos, we find a bench then just sit quietly for a time with our eyes closed. Soothed by the unexpected warmth of the October sun and by the sounds of the gentle waves rolling on to the sand. The happy, playful laughter and voices of people passing by rouse us once more into the land of the living as we call greetings back to them.

Still, no more photos today so safety shot it must be!
