“Photographing a culture in the here and now often means photographing the intersection of the present with the past.”
    Diane Arbus
    1923 – 1971

Arbus was a documentary photographer famed for her images of marginalised peoples, particularly circus performers.

  3. [edit] Forgot to attach an explanation. Out for dinner, home late, last minute submission. These are teeny dried flowers which were part of a table arrangement.

After yesterdays excursion into town (Kingsbridge) and colour, today it's back to my comfort zone, Wellington boots, a muddy lane and monochrome.

Another sunny day - what's going on??? Anyway, I got some shots of dead stuff in the garden (maybe tomorrow that will include the little swine of a mole that's now digging up the lawn). Here's one of them.

Took the minions for a walk up to the lighthouse this morning to keep them busy whilst waiting for some relatives to arrive for a family get together, 7km return sorted them out...

  11. OK, an admission of "gear change." For a variety of reasons I will continue on in this "Challenge" with a different camera and lens. Bad weather is forcing me to make no more than one "photo safari" inside or outside per day. I really need to continue to test a new camera body I have, a Leica CL, so I will continue on with the CL and a Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 SC lens.
Regardless here's a grab shot of my wife with monocular and attached iPhone. Bird is on our porch having lunch.

Rain droplets on the leaves of a trimmed down bush. Still drizzling and raining. Long range forecast gives brightening up next Tuesday and then some bright sunny weather. We'll see.

David, I shall be interested to see the results from your Leica CL and to hear any comments you have, particularly in respect of the manual focussing abilities given your choice of lens.

  15. Barrie - I'll post my initial observations in a couple of days . So far with Voigtlander and Zeiss M-mount lenses, and the Leica M-Mount to L-mount adapter, its doing well.

Day Eleven - the wrong way to walk through a door

Do you ever feel you are invisible? I have expressed this “super” power more than enough times that Marvel Comics would have featured me in one of their movies if only they had seen me. Unfortunately that is the problem with invisibility ... missed movie opportunities aside ... people simply don’t see you. I found today that this can be hazardous when walking through a door. Ouch!

Delayed again on the morning drive. I got up early too. The best of intentions...
