Just bought a 35mm f1.4 Samyang for the A7. I'm loving the sharpness and shallow DOF!! Here are a few pix. View attachment 101956 Cat 02 by andywest1, on Flickr View attachment 101957 Cat 01 by andywest1, on Flickr Tree by andywest1, on Flickr View attachment 101958 Footpath by andywest1, on Flickr
Though if size really doesn't matter to you then you would be hard pressed to find a lens better than this lens in sharpness and overall render beauty. I did very little if any color correction on these and they where all shot jpeg. Let me know what you think! {} {} {} {} {} {}
I like these, the colour is lovely. I use the Voightlander 35mm 1.2 II on my 7R but although it's large and heavy, it feels well balanced.
I should have said "for the price" lol. Because arguably, the CV 35mm 1.2 is one of those "holy grail" lenses. If I didn't use the funds to round out my M43 lenses it would surely be mine. For now I must stick with my FD 35mm F2. Someday though Thanks Dave! Well the size of this lens was just too great for me in the end. While I loved the output, I just couldn't see using it often so it went back.
This was my favorite lens on my 5DII before I sold the camera...MF at f1.4 was just too hit or miss in the end. I can imagine the size could be quite unwieldy on a Sony A7 though.
And that's the difference that the Sony makes. Focus peaking and magnification makes the A7 series prefect for all types of MF glass;
I'll second that, I can manual focus all my lenses on the A7R so much more quickly than on the Leica M.
I had focus peaking on the 5DII though Magic Lantern. It definitely helped, but it was still a challenge shooting moving subjects with such a shallow DOF to work with wide open (which was the look I liked)
