Leica New Leica Mini M

There's no way the camera will be a cropped sensor with fixed lens and sell for around $4,000. This camera is to be positioned between their fixed lens camera (X2) and the new M240.

Maybe it will be a FF fixed 2x or 2.5x zoom with integrated EVF? Used RX1s`would be plenty available after such an announcement.

To me, it makes sense that the new Leica camera would be an APS-C sensor, interchangeable lens body with a built in EVF. Since mirrorless cameras and adapters to mount M-mount lenses on them were introduced it seems like Leica has been content to let these cameras exist without a challenge. Bringing to market a Leica branded camera like this wouldn't cannibalize Leica customers that want a true rangefinder experience (with either a full frame or crop sensor), wouldn't directly compete with the X1/X2 since the camera would no doubt not be as compact as the fixed lens camera, and would encourage additional lens sales. It would compete directly with cameras like the X-E1, NEX-7 where the traditional Leica focal lengths perhaps make more sense than on the 2X crop sensors of the m43 cameras.

It's the E-P5 of Leica's... oh, only the Mini DOES have a viewfinder, doesn't it?...

And $3000 for a mini, huh? Well, if the price bothers you, you obviously are not a person of quality, lol.

I'm sorry -- Leica's cost way too much IMO.

The mini has no built-in viewfinder. Just an add-on viewfinder, so the $3,160 camera will likely be more like $3,500. At least there is no extra charge for the slow(ish) zoom.

I don't think Leicaphiles will buy it. Who is the target demographic for this?

RX1 looks cheap now.. Or you can get a Sony 3n with 16-50mm 3.5-5.6 lens for $450 ...

(UPDATED) First image of the Leica Mini M!!! | Mirrorless Rumors

The Leica Mini M is an APS-C sensor camera with fixed zoom lens! These are the specs:
- Leica Elmar 28-70mm f/3.5-6.4 (FF equivalent)
- 16,1 Megapixel APS-C sensor.
- external electronic viewfinder can be used
- Full Aluminum body
- FullHD recording
- Bundled with Photoshop Lightroom.

The Camera will be announced on June 11 according to Leica.

Price is 2450€ (over $3,000)!

At least you can use an Oly viewfinder on Leica's...

Whereas the M and X2 appeal to enthusiasts the Mini-M as spec'ed in the rumors will not. It is really just a glorified and expensive P&S that presumably is aimed at the fashionista socialite.
