    I have a rule about buying real estate... purchase on a hill, not at the bottom. Ok two rules, the other is never buy near a river. :)

    Looks bad down there, Bill. We've had a bit of local flooding here but nothing on the scale of what we've seen further south on TV, we seem to have escaped the worst of it so far. I'm so glad we live near the top of a hill! It must be heartbreaking to see all of your belongings ruined by flood water. It beggars belief to see they're STILL building riverside properties.

    We've been really lucky in my part of England. Neither rain nor wind have been exceptional, and temperatures have been above average, although that still doesn't mean it's been pleasant!
