How much faster is f/0.95 vs. f/1.7?

    In stops, that is.

    I have seen various formulas for making the computation (the squaw of the hippopotamus and all that), but I'm having trouble grokking them.

    a stop and half is my guess.... or is it less than a stop?

    In stops, it depends how you count it.
    1.7 - 1.4 - 1.2 - 0.95 would get my vote.

    Significantly faster is my guess, at least in practical terms. That's based on a noticeable difference observed by me between f1.4 and f1.8 on the "tiny" m43 sensor. Even more of a difference on a FF sensor then.

    The difference is 1.68 stops (by calculation).
