Fields and woods, around us are very infested with ants. They are trying to invade my space. Answer, Borax. Mixed with sugar water, they eat, take it back home, die, and if I understand it correctly; the living eat the dead and die also? Anyway, the first go around, we saw a greatly reduced population around the outside. So a while ago I decided to make it more appealing, by sprinkling Borax liberally on the two halves of a Little Cutie Orange, along with a bit of brown sugar. And invited the ants to a feast. and they are coming, .....and going! Placed at the two corners of the porch and flower barrels.
The insect class will be last ones standing in the end, but I think Steve has these guys under control.
You may have a point, because they are not always vegetarians, lol... {} Slug vs. The Ants by Entropic Remnants, on Flickr
poses a question I can imagine how ants can migrate on birds but how old are slugs as a species & are they on every continent or island?
ant #1 : hey did you see that big, juicy orange? ant #2 : a friend of mine ate something similar yesterday and his whole family died. ant #1 : geez, I better stay away
Ant#3 : Aw, come on cowards. Those guys are having a grand time. Ain't seen nothing this good in days!
ant news anchor on this evening's news : a second annihilation has hit the local population today. No word on whether or not the massive juicy oranges are responsible, but the population is strongly urged to stay away from them. Also, be on the lookout for a human with a shiny light capture device who is assumed to be behind the recent massacres.
