Hi all, we have finally moved house to the Welsh borders and I can get back to some photography :)
We also had a hectic "break" driving to Canterbury, then across the channel to Bruges and Trier. My internet connection is hopelessly slow until tomorrow when the satellite broadband gets fitted, so I've only uploaded a few photos to Flickr so far. Here is the first batch from Canterbury Cathedral (RX100 with Silver Efex processing on 3 of the 4)

OK, here are some views from the later parts of the tour. Mostly Bruges, 1 from Gent, 1 from the Museum in Trier (the weather was awful so no other decent images unfortunately)

Actually Bill it was remarkably close to that route! We went via Calais, then past Mons & Charleroi to Namur, then the route was almost identical. Spooky....
We doubled back from Bruges to Gent on the train (to give me a break from being behind the wheel). To be honest I was underwhelmed with Gent. It was like a less well preserved version of Bruges and the walk from the station was a bit depressing. Bruges, however, was marvellous. I haven't been since I was 18 which was *cough* years ago and I am tempted to go again much sooner.

Funny! We had our first night booked in Bruges, and just winged it from there. I know what you mean about Gent - I think it would be more impressive if Bruges did not exist, but as it stands it is overshadowed by it's smaller neighbour. My least favourite stopover was Luxembourg - it was the worst accommodation (a room over a pub), we had to move the car before 8 the next morning and in general it had the air of a snooty Berkshire town on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the 1970s before shops were allowed to open! ;)
