Fuji Compressed RAW

I've just bought an X-E3 and see that it now offers the option of "lossless compressed RAW." I've never heard of it. I understand that reducing the file size must increase the number of images that can be stored on the memory card. Are there any downsides to using compressed RAW?

Not all pp software can read compressed rafs at this time. But from what I have read, the compression does not affect any of the data in the raw file.

Will the Adobe DNG Converter read compressed RAFs?

LR reads Fuji compressed raw, so the DNG converter should.

New problem: How do I import the X-E3 RAF files? I use Lightroom 5. When I click on import, only the JPEG files show up.

The X-E3 is supported by Lightroom Classic CC, Lightroom CC, and Camera RAW 10, which were released two days ago. Lightroom 6 (standalone) may or may not get a later update for the X-E3. DNG converter works, of course, but there's loss of metadata information.

LR 5 offers inferior IQ with X-Trans files, especially color bleeding. Hence all LR 5 users should have upgraded to version 6.
