Leica Canon 85mm 1.5 LTM

All-Pro
Who has such a lens here?
There are other 85mm 1.5 lenses out there, such as the Leica Summarex and the Nikon and the Helios for vintage, plus modern lenses such as Samyang ... etc.

I don't have this lens... And I remember the girls being so little. They grow up so fast.

This lens is an interesting design, a 1-3-2-1 seven element in four group double-Gauss- same layout as the Simlar 5cm F1.5. I have the latter.

I have many lenses, so each lens gets some usage once in a while. Rotations can take some time!
How do you view your Simlar overall?

The Simlar is an original design, and an interesting way to increase transmission- eliminates 2 surfaces compared with the Summarit.

Overall performance is not bad stopped down a bit... Collector's lens, a real piece of history- the Sonnar is better, the Summarit and Xenon are closer in performance. I should revisit it with the M Monochrom.

He does some good work, getting groups separated into element is not easy, getting them back together- even more difficult.

For the original question- I bought the Canon 85/1.5 and it is a very impressive lens. About 1/5th the price of the Nikkor and Leica 85/1.5's, about as rare- another under-rated lens.
