Following up on this: Should we open up the forum to cameras of all types and sizes?

I already made the changes to the forum directory: Cameraderie

Of course there are some systems that don't have a forum yet, eg Leica S, Pentax medium format, etc, but the main DSLR forums have been added

Now if we drop the compacts idea and open the forum all the way up, we'll need a new site name. One thought I had was FriendlyPhotoForum.com because I think the friendly, laid back community is one of the things that sets us apart from many other sites. Is that too generic sounding? Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think I'd change it. I'd just put a sticky post up somewhere explaining that the emphasis is on smaller cameras, but that larger cameras are ok too. I think Serious Compacts is pretty well known out there and I don't think that becoming more explicitly inclusive means the emphasis, or name, needs to change.

+1. MU-43 forum has already FF/dslr/film/other camera posts...

Serious Compacts (and more) has the added benefit of the acronym SCAM

Serious Cameras keeps the SC intact

a plethora of cameras (to cash in on the rabid Three Amigos fanbase that'll buy anything that uses the word plethora)

Size Doesn't Matter (a community of camera geeks that doesn't care about what camera you're using)

How's the IQ (a place to share photos and talk the gear used to create them)

Uncompromising Cameras (or how to find which compromised camera is right for you)

or if you want some naughty Acronym fun..... Fantastic Uncompromising Camera Knowledgebase

I don't think the emphasis on camera type needs to change, so serious compacts works. However if the empasis is on "all" cameras then InfiniteCameras.com work

I'm with those who think that a name change isn't mandatory. IF there is a name change, the boring, but accurate "Serious Cameras" would do in order to not lose design and acronym. However, my impression is that in the end, it's "All About the Image" - that's something I really like about this forum, as is the supportive and friendly attitude predominating. So, allabouttheimage.com (or abouttheimage.com) would ring true. I just would not like it better than seriouscompacts.com - which reflects something I'm passionate about (and have been for more than 25 years now ...), even though I've always shot (D)SLRs as well.

is the title of "serious" still relevant? I am assuming that part of the reason why Amin chose the title was to emphasise that smaller cameras can still produce seriously good images and should be taken seriously at a time when they probably weren't. I don't think that sort of propping up is necessary anymore.

I entirely agree with Ray's view on this.

I'd really just keep it as is... To me the current focus and balance of the forum is perfect.
But if it must change, how about...

I think we should keep the name as it is. Most specialist forums have areas where members can discuss other, related topics and I think we should adopt the same approach here for DSLRs. Happy to read about them and see images from them, but the main emphasis of the site should stay as it is.

You know, whatever forums I've joined have never been because I read some sort of mission statement, let alone the terms of service or anything else really.

I rarely if ever read anything except posts before I join, and if they are covering the things I'm interested in and want to participate in the discussions, I join.

Or am I alone in this?
