We are about to go on vacation with my folks and my brother and his family. My folks 45th wedding anniversary. I plan to take my Nikon V1 because it is fast focusing and catches kids well and it does great video. My wife has the idea to capture lots of video of everyone. Not necessarily random boring stuff, but perhaps get them talking about the old days, plus capture all the cousins together. At any rate, I plan to take a small tripod, but for video what is a good ballhead or what should I look for in a ballhead for video. Thanks.

I prefer a panning head for video (over a ballhead).

Thanks Bill. That's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I didn't know enough to ask about panning heads!

Definitely a panning head.. for smoother video. You can get reasonable ones for small cameras.
