A fearsome challenge

Last night, the better half informed me TV weather was announcing that Jupiter would be visible near the moon. Would I like to take a crack at photographing the two of them? Sure, I said, but the brightness of the moon was likely to be a problem.

I tried it first with the HX400V superzoom.

The brightness of the moon is overwhelming, but you can see Jupiter.

If you get the exposure so you can see any detail on the moon, Jupiter goes away.
