Apple has just released the latest update iOS 5.1.1 - for its mobile
operating system which runs iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone devices, and
because it contains security updates you should install it as soon as you
can if you have such a device.

The update includes a number of bug fixes and improvements in reliability
for the popular Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch devices. it includes a patch
which improves the reliability of using the HDR option for photos taken via
the Lock Screen shortcut, the reliability of syncing Safari bookmarks and
the reading list has been enhanced and it also fixes a number of bugs,
including a some that affect AirPlay video playback under certain
circumstances.

Bugs that could potentially prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G
and 3G networks have also been addressed. Apple has also rectified a
problem whereby an "Unable to Purchase" box had erroneously popped up after
a successful purchase.

Updates also fix some other Safari vulnerabilities, theses will help users
of iOS to avoid the increasing amounts of malware that are on the Internet.

The 5.1.1 update can be installed over a Wi-Fi connection from the
'Settings' icon. Open the 'General' menu and then the 'Software Update'
menu item. The update is relatively quick to install.

Thanks, Bill. Installed without problems on my iPad "Classic"; iPhone 4s installation in progress. Appreciate the heads-up!

Edit: Took a lot longer on the iPhone and involved a couple resets performed automatically. At the end, though, the phone came back to life! Always some anxiety on my part installing OS updates, based on old PC struggles. Apple seems to get it right.

Edit 2: Turns out the iPad installation wasn't finished; required a second visit to Settings|General|Software Update to complete the installation. At the end, though, all was well. Glad these iOS updates don't come along as frequently as app updates!
