another visit to Eastern Oregon :)

Last weekend we went to Eastern Oregon again. Looks like we'll now have to call that one of our "bi-annual" visits :)

Everytime it has been slightly different, yet always wonderful. This time the weather gods weren't quite on our side, so we saw the area in a different, yet still very atmospheric light.

When I've been to a place a couple of times, I get a bit more relaxed and experimental when it comes to gear. This time I took the Olympus E-1 with the 12-60mm and the Ricoh GR, which I just received a couple of days before we left for the trip.

Sunday was the nicer of the two days. We went for our favourite hike - with a small variation of the destination:

The second day it rained. It was supposed to stop before noon, but it didn't.
We headed out to another viewpoint - but lacking any view we turned back early and spent the afternoon hiking up a nearby creek :)

I seem to have the same luck with weather and time off. Nice set. I love Sunday Sunset.

yeah, the bad weather system was really spot on this time :)
I regularly checked a local webcam the week before we went. Sunny with clear skies every day up to Saturday.
When we went to the ranger station on rainy Monday morning the lady there tried to comfort us "It's going to be nice again tomorrow!" :) And it was - we had a nice day of driving back to Portland... :)
Oh well, we still had a good time. We've already seen it in good weather, now we have the full experience. :)
