On assignment with a serious compact

As I post this, it's 6:30 am in Bloomfield, NY. In a little while, I'll begin my third day of covering the Northeast Regional Field Target Championship for ShootingSportsUSA magazine. Over the past two days, I've shot 136 photos. My weapon of choice for this assignment is a Panasonic/Leica FZ150, chosen because of its great zoom range and image quality that is good enough for the job at hand. My backup camera is a Canon G12. I have spare batteries for both. I can carry both cameras and a 13-inch ultrabook laptop and the combination weighs less than a big SLR a couple of lenses.

It just goes to show that compact cameras can be suitable for serious work. Below are a couple of photos shot at the match that made me grin.
