Very interesting snapshots of a lifetime in a closed system. Sad that a political system could destroy her talent. Glad the negs are coming to light.

    Film Pentax or Nikon ?

Funny, I'm going through the same issues. I have a fairly complete Nikon setup (F5, N8008, F3) & a couple of lenses. I'm looking at expanding the Nikon lenses but all the ones I want as pretty far outside my price range right now. Pentax offers some interesting options at lower prices but I've...

Film How do people like Kodak TMax 100?

It's not too hard. B&W only takes a changing bag, a tank, a stopwatch, and some chemistry. You do need to carefully follow time and temperature directions - at least until you get consistent results. Then you can experiment. You will also need a place to dry film that is dust free. Showers work...

Film How do people like Kodak TMax 100?

In looking through my notes from a few decades ago, I found my best results came from using T-Max developer rather than D-76 or HC110; just my $0.02 worth....

Film How do people like Kodak TMax 100?

I have always liked the fine grain it offers. Different from HP5+, it's worth a look.

Nice results - especially for a firt time effort! (mine is somewhere in a landfill!) You might try increasing the contrast just a bit in the scans, could make the images "pop" a bit more. (Course, this just could be my monitor)

    Film Filters for B&W

Filters are fun. You can spend big $$ on glass filters or you can spend a lot less on resin filters such as Cokin and the various clones. I'd start with a red or orange resin filter and see how you like that . These filters will darken blue skies and green leaves (not too many of them around...

Film Opinions on the Bronica S2 ?

You are right about choosing an S2a rather than an S2! The transmission gears are much stronger. You might also consider an EC or (better yet) an EC-TL. I had an EC-TL for years - it was a terrific camera and having built-in (aperture preferred) exposure automation makes a 6X6 a much handier...

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Couple of tips on film developing... I'd start with a film and look at The Massive Development Chart (B&W Film Developing Times | The Massive Dev Chart), for suggestions. Pick a suitable developer and stick with it. Be careful with time and temperature. Once you can consistently turn out good...

Film Your ISO rating for HP5+

After I wrote that post, I did some tests with my F5 and shot HP5+ rated at ISO400. I bracketed each shot +1 and -1 stop. Examining the negatives showed that, in evenly lit scenes, the correct speed was 400 to give good detail in both highlights and shadows. Rather than constantly play around...

    Film I tried

I share your pain...my eyesight isn't what it used to be either. (true for so many things.....) I like to envision the image before I capture it, autofocus is just a tool to help with some of the technical aspects of the image. I consider it to be similar to a light meter in that respect. Like...

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Just bought 2 rolls of Ultrafine 100 and 8 rolls of ultrafine 400 in 120 for my Voigtlander Perkeo II, My Ikonta 530/2, and my Mamiya 645 pro tl. I evaluated some of this earlier and really liked the images, so, since it worked out to $4,12/roll (with shipping), I decided to load up on it.

Film Thanks Adobe for penalising me for cancelling my month to month subcription.

When I was considering photo manipulation software, I looked at Adobe PS - then bought Corel. I like the fact that, although upgrades are available, I don't have to shell out for software every month for the rest of my life. I'd rather buy film!

Film Your ISO rating for HP5+

I've been shooting a lot of HP5+ lately in both 35mm and 120 format. While Ilford rates this film at ISO 400, I seem to have a little better results when using it at 200. Recently, I tried a roll at 800 and got good results. I realize HP5+ has a great deal of exposure latitude & this got me to...

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Good luck with the Mamiya 645. I have one with a number of lenses. Like you, I find the autofocus better than my eyesight. I've been shooting B&W in mine and really like the way the camera system handles. The bigger negatives (than 35mm) are nice as well.

    Film Mamiya 645 AFD

I'm in the same boat! I find keeping detailed notes on what choices I've made in scanning has helped me to become more consistent. Once you achieve precision, it becomes easier to adjust to get what you want. the fun for me is in the journey, not the destination.
