Leica Leica 35mm f2.8 Summaron - Sony A7II, Techart Pro AF adapter

Any experience or any advice from the manufacturer on how to deal with FLE lenses? Just prefocus manually at the estimated distance? Thanks in advance Valdemar.

Leica New Firmware for M series cameras, mostly adding new lenses

1.010 firmware in your MM was the firmware not available for the public, just installed in factory with the new sensor (new light transmission coefficient and glass data -probably a BG55 from Schott-). The equivalent in the M9 was the 1.204 .

Leica New Firmware for M series cameras, mostly adding new lenses

Yes, some "underexposing" bug corrected when using flash, Thambar 90 and Nocti 75 included and..... a Summilux-M 90/1.5 hidden in the firmware ¡¡!! And this matches with what Peter Karbe has said, 90/1.5=60mm exactly the same as the Nocti, as Peter Karbe pointed, "diameter of the entrance pupil...

    Leica 7Artisans 35mm f/2 news - its a Sonnar

Indeed it is. I was just thinking in LTM and M mounts... as seen in Marco Cavina page of lenses for Compact 35mm: As pointed in the datasheet, the optical formula of the 35S Sonnar is the same as the 35RF one.

    Leica 7Artisans 35mm f/2 news - its a Sonnar

I think that, probably, the closest Sonnar may be one that I really love, the Rollei Sonnar 40/2.8 HFT... although it is really closer to a Miyazaki Sonnetar optical scheme, 5 elements in 4 groups...

    Leica Zeiss 15mm Distagon ZM

Thanks Vince. Brian, this is a Distagon not a Biogon obviously, so we should assume that is in the retro focus field... it seems that the rear element protrudes, but it is a 15mm, so having in account that the FFD is 27.8mm, it can reach around 10mm or slightly more out and still remaining in...

    Leica Zeiss 15mm Distagon ZM

Nice piece of equipment and nice examples Vince. Magenta corners but only in the last one? Some correction in the others? BTW, any specific comment on why have you sold the WATE? I thought you were perfectly mastering it, for what we have seen... ;) :)

    Leica LEICA M2 ELMAR 50/2.8

Nice set Bernie, even the cap seem to be in a mint condition... BTW, take care of those rings, it is really scary to see those so close to the mint chrome without any protection! ;-) :-)

    Leica Is my rangefinder off?

No issues at all. If you think a little bit how a rangefinder works, you will see that is working as it should. 1. When the two lines merge completely? When all the line is at the same distance from the camera (the distance at which you are focusing) obviously contained in a same plane, the...

    Leica Is my rangefinder off?

Vincetan, maybe I am not understanding you correctly but to me your rangefinder is perfect. It is doing what is supposed to do. The only way that both black lines merge together is when you look through the rangefinder completely perpendicular to the paper, this means that the paper (and the...

    Leica Is my rangefinder off?

Vincetan, when you point at a line in, let's say a wall, and you point at it with your camera parallel to the focus plane (the wall) there should be no issue as I understand there is not. If the line is, let's say, in the floor running away from your feet to infinity, an you point at it tilting...

Leica Anyone here bought the SL

Well, it seems that's the way, see Jono Slack review and comparison, there are others also around: The Leica SL a field report Jonathan Slack October 2015 It seems that Kolari has clearly the best IQ/price ratio, but if you want to peak performance, still lags behind the M, although it seems...

Leica Anyone here bought the SL

I agree that it makes not much sense to buy a SL exclusively to use with M lenses basically because it seems that it does not really match the M performance... but I think that you cannot compare it with the "phenomenal" smearing coming from the "king size width" of the Sony's 2.5mm IR blocking...

    Leica New Leica System

Leica Leica announces new sensor in testing for M9/M Monochrom/M-E

Leica Leica announces new sensor in testing for M9/M Monochrom/M-E

In the 2015 Schott catalog, as well as in the 2013 one, the S8612 is included in group3 (two umbrellas) of humidity resistance (together with BG39 that could also be an option) while BG55 remains in group2 (one umbrella)... see page 24 point 5.5 Resistance against humidity...

Leica Konost: a new FF digital RF body for M?

They are using a sort of in chip programmable clipping voltage level up to two times during one exposure (see end of page 20 in the linked datasheet below). Similar to the RED cameras. This boosts the DR from 66db (11 stops) to 90dB (15 stops). The designed generic glass cover is of 0.7mm. The...

Leica True Sense Imaging, maker of CCD's for the M-E and M Monochrom, now ON Semiconductor

I have found the long specs for the KAF-10500 and transmission curve of the Kyocera B7 is there and is really quite close to the Schott Group 1 curve... http://www.riddle.ru/dl/ccd/kodak/KAF-10500LongSpec.pdf

Leica True Sense Imaging, maker of CCD's for the M-E and M Monochrom, now ON Semiconductor

Having a look at the NIR graphs, certainly the M9 must have a much better QE with red light because at 600nm, the S8612 already has "only" 50% of transmittance and at the 650nm red light, just 10% ???... From Scheneider Optics (B+W filters transmission curves, see bottom right red filters 090...

Leica True Sense Imaging, maker of CCD's for the M-E and M Monochrom, now ON Semiconductor

It is also strange that the MM sensor, supposedly the debayerized version of the KAF-18500, is also not listed... Interesting that these past days, Leica has "pseudofficially", in the l-camera-forum, pointed the corrosion issues with the M9, MM and derivatives FF CCD and they have established...

    Leica Zeiss ZM 35mm 1.4

Knowing that both Zeiss and Leica's curves are mesured ones and not calculated (as most of the rest), I have put the Distagon and the Summilux curves one on top of the other... I think that, waiting for a real test, the outcome is pretty clear... (although the weight and size also... ;-) :-))...

Leica Show us your film Leica

Nop, but good guess. Check the toothed wheel concentric with the shutter release button...and the definitive clue, if it had mounted a Leica lens, it would be a Summilux 50 instead of an Elmar-M 50... ;) :D

Leica What makes a Leica camera so special?
