Thank you, that's very creative! For years I have said that I take photos because I'm not patient or good enough at drawing, so this latest activity has taken me by surprise.

I maybe need to work on perspective more, and not using pencil as a starting point isn't helpful. Anyway, I enjoyed tackling something with more challenging perspective, and next time I'll use that pencil! The reference photo was taken at the end of 2015 in Broadford with my first Fujifilm X10...

Paddy's Falls, outside Tumbarumba, was a nice spot to stop as we toured in New South Wales, which was only across the Murray River (which forms a very long section of border between the states). This was a popular spot for people to cool off in the heat, and take selfies for social media.

If you drive across the bridge (photo 1) from Echuca to Moama on the New South Wales side, and turn down a bumpy track, you could find yourself looking across at the Port of Echuca, with its historic paddle boats. We arrived at sunset, when the light was particularly lovely.

Here's the Cape Otway Lighthouse, photographed with Panasonic G85 and PL12-60mm lens. I was very pleased with how this ink drawing turned out, as it feels like I'm finally finding my own style. Drawn entirely with Pilot Desk Pen in Platinum Carbon Black waterproof permanent ink.

Never has so far, and I've done it quite a lot - always in an enclosed wood fired oven. But I'm sure you could substitute something more safety suitable. The purpose of the paper is to absorb the extra oil in the coating, rendering it crisp. PS I'm not sure what the heck you're cooking at...

I have a great tip for left over KFC I learned from a farmer's wife - put it on a good few sheets of newspaper and put in the oven until the coating becomes crisp, turning to heat both sides evenly. Done right, it's much better than the original! Sometimes we get a bucket to put in the freezer...

Uninspired by my own photos that day, I turned to a book of Ibiza for a simple architectural study, this time using coloured inks in a couple of Platinum Preppy fountain pens. I've been into fountain pens for years, but never considered them for drawing before. I've since become quite addicted...

The pen in the Sakura Pigma Micron set which least appealed to me was the brush pen, so I did something I don't usually, and embraced it, doing an entire A6 sketch with it! The photo is of Clarendon Estate in Tasmania, taken with Panasonic GX9 and 14-140mm mkII lens, if I recall correctly.

My next drawing was from a phone photo taken while strolling the main street of a tiny Victorian village. I used Pigma Micron pens, Derwent watercolour and Inktense pencils. Progess photos are also attached.

A rambling secondhand book store in a rural village.

This wonderful secondhand book shop in Echuca had a huge collection of dog figurines along the top shelves, which were owned by the store owner and not for sale. The lady working that day told me about cleaning the entire collection, which took her weeks - which I thought was a very good effort...

You will not find a prettier - or smaller - town in Victoria. Walhalla has a permanent population of around 20 (Twenty!) residents, but around 2,000 visitors per day during peak season. Whenever that is.
