This may strike a chord - it did with me.

I've acquired quite a few cameras and lenses over the last few years, and have lost all interest in adding anything more. I own a Sigma DP1 Merrill, DP2 Merrill, DP3 Merrill, Sony NEX-7 with umpteen lenses, X100s and adaptors, Samsung NX1 and the 'S' lenses, and various 35mm and MF film cameras...

GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Its not a compact, but I bought myself a Samsung NX1 and the 'S' lenses to go with it. Discounted new stock, with a two year guarantee. I'm very happy with it :)

    Canon EOS-M a mistake?

I had the use of one for a day, and I think it's a nice little camera.Build quality is excellent, the UI is good, and the image quality is also good. I decided not to buy one because I just didn't need another camera - lol. Autofocus after the update was good enough by my standards.

Very nice. I particularly like the B&W shot of the frowning boy. I wonder what he was thinking about? My guess would be his school homework :frown:

I can't offer any advice Ray, but I can say that your work is right there amongst the best I've ever seen. Good luck with this project.

Fuji Unexpected: Fuji will launch a Medium Format camera with the Sony 50MP sensor this summer

Will be a nice camera, I'm sure, but it's not for me. I've not got anywhere near exploring the full potential of what I already have. I've not even explored 5% of it.

Fuji X20: I am happy with my gear, I am happy with my gear, I am happy with my gear...

I don't own one but I've used one. It's a nice camera. I was surprised by how good the OVF is - it's probably the best in it's class. Is there any way you could take one for a test drive?

    News Calumet Photo Closes

There's still trading here in the UK - I was in the local branch last week. I call in about once a month, but I'm usually the only one there. I get the feeling that they'll go under eventually.

I think maybe the designers and manufacturers of compact cameras are going a little wonky in the hea

I prefer a viewfinder every time when the camera is off the tripod. I'm using hotshoe mounted OVFs with my Merrill's and although they are not totally accurate, they're nice to work with.

    Animals Wild horses

Lovely to see your images of the wild ones. There's a place up in the Scottish hills where I love to camp, but I never get enough sleep there because of a bunch of wild horses who have a habit of waking me up by poking at the tent and licking the dew from it in the middle of the night...

Extremely odd on-line conversation with B&H

I use accessory OVF's with my Merrills, two from Sigma and one from Voigtlander. They are big and bright, and I think you'll be satisfied that you're getting a nicer view than the built-in OVF, if the FOV is right.

    Fuji Fuji X100...

I put my X100 in as part-exchange when I decided to go for an X100S. I'm happy with the X100S, but I'll pick up another X100 at some point, because I like the images they produce. The controls on the X100 are a bit fiddly, but I think the camera is worth persevering with. A classic.

Sigma Sigma DP Series Image Thread

Just a quick snap to show off my now complete set of OVFs for my three Sigma DPxMs. The Sigma ones are fine - plastic construction but nice optics. The Voigtlander is definitely superior - brass construction, nicer to use if you wear glasses like myself. Got the two Sigma finders for £120/$199...

    I'm getting obsessed with sharpness

It's definitely a different experience. I much prefer looking at prints. They seem more 'real' to me.

It matters how you view your images, I think. Do you feel the same way when you view them as prints?

    Canon G17 - 1" sensor w/- 24-200mm f/1.4-2.0 lens!!! Hmmm...

I take your point. I prefer shooting with a viewfinder myself, unless the camera is on the tripod. I use hotshoe mounted OVFs on my Sigmas and that works well enough. They cost me £340/$566, which is about the price of a half-decent camera, but it's worth it for a more pleasant shooting...

    Canon G17 - 1" sensor w/- 24-200mm f/1.4-2.0 lens!!! Hmmm...

It was the viewfinder that made me turn away from the G series. I'd rather have no OVF than a bad one.
