Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

I thought I would put some more samples in this thread of macro photography using new Sony FE 90/2.8 The more I use the lens the more I realise what a damn fine piece of kit it is. Sure, it is heavy but I have now understood the various feature a lot more. The focus limiter and the OSS are...

    Ricoh New GR Apparently

I can't fault the current version of the GR so I'm not in a hurry to upgrade. This is the camera I take with me most of the time that I am 'wandering' about. One of the best camera products on the market today which for newcomers just got a little bit better. LouisB

Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

Thanks. I would wait a little. After the main demand slows down, early next year I reckon the price will drop significantly, just like the A7R which can be bought (relatively) for peanuts, now. I actually bought my A7R s/h for a knock-down price. It serves me well but I would like the better...

The Ricoh GR is a master of stealth photography. I did not want to be seen on a London Overground platform overtly photographing this particular view but using the GR and the 21mm adapter I was able to capture it discretely. Fat pixels (A7S) and the Elmarit 90/2.8. Quite a challenge to get the focus spot on - which it is in the first photograph and only slightly out in the second. That said I think the second has more character even if it isn't pixel perfect.

Spitalfields in London. Must say I am beginning to like the FE24-70 - especially the OSS - with the A7r. This was shot at 1/40 and f4 and certainly in the centre is very sharp.

Sony Zeiss Loxia 35/2 Biogon T* lens for Sony E Mount

Yes and there are many fine exemplars of a whole range of legacy lenses from wonderful manufacturers past and present. It really is a very good platform. I could have carried on using my M-Summicron 35/2 but I do like a dedicated lens and the exif features are very handy indeed. LouisB

Sony Zeiss Loxia 35/2 Biogon T* lens for Sony E Mount

SnapDawg, I am not a great fan of the FE 35/2.8. In fact I was very disappointed with mine and sold it because I just didn't want to shoot with it. It had little character but incredible sharpness. I suspect the forthcoming FE 28/2 will be as good but at a much more realistic price point and...

Sony Zeiss Loxia 35/2 Biogon T* lens for Sony E Mount

Thanks, all for the comments. To specifically answer El Guapo, the focus throw is long. It definitely requires you to turn twice to get from infinity to closest. This is not such a big deal for me as I mainly shoot landscape and on infinity but if you are street shooting and moving from near...

Best camera / focal length for street photography - your help needed.

I would have thought that one constant for street photography is a wide angle lens.
