Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

Been having a good time with the A7 - I have yet to buy any AF lens for it - the manual focus M-Mount lenses seem to do just fine for me :) This was with the 90mm Summicron pre-ASPH at f2.8 I think :) (Linked to my Flickr) Cheers, Dave

    Ricoh Acmaxx Lens Protector

Thanks folks, I figure the LCD one is a given considering the history of the GR cameras and the lens one, while "spendy" is probably a good idea considering some reports of dust etc. Sure it doesn't make the camera "dust proof" but it will help. The only reason I would put them on this camera...

    Ricoh Acmaxx Lens Protector

Hi folks, I recently snagged a GR for myself (to go along with my Sony A7) and I was looking at the Acmaxx lens and LCD protectors that are available via ebay. Out of curiosity, if anyone has been using the lens protector, have you noted any issues with your images (that is, smearing of...

Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

The adapter has an "infinity lock" on it. Basically, when the adapter is "locked" you just use the lens as you normally would. When you "unlock" the adapter, it too has a slim focus ring on it which allows you to "float" the lens. Basically, you put your lens at the minimal focus distance and...

Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

Just picked up the Voigtlander VM-E adapter (close focus) and tried it out on my usual model... Monty my Boston Terrier :) This camera opened a new world of full frame digital for my rangefinder lenses and now this adapter opens a new world for the lenses.. I keep on liking this camera...

Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

Thanks guys :) I hadn't posted much here and I've been mainly shooting jpeg straight out of the camera but now that I have LR 5 I'm using RAW again and noting that Sony's ability to get the scene "right" is, well, pretty darn good - there's not much needed to do to the RAW files as far as I...

Limited Quantity In Stock at B&H: Sony Alpha A7R

Amin, I don't think you'll be disappointed - if you already shelled out the money for the M240 then it's unlikely you'll want to give it up but as someone who put an order in locally for an M240 in April of this year, only to receive a phone call last week that it finally had come in... well...

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

Regarding my comments earlier on the lack of an external charger; I have nothing against the GR (recall I have owned a GRD II and III in the past) - I had just commented that the camera does not come with an external charger (just something I find "odd" having bought digital cameras since 1998 -...

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

FYI: Charger for the Ricoh GR can be ordered separately @ B&H Ricoh BJ-6 Battery Charger for DB-60 and DB-65 Batteries 171873 If you want a charger to go with the camera, tack on an extra $48 (I would just call it $50 myself) Cheers, Dave

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

I understood that it didn't have a "dedicated" charger - my issue is, if you have two batteries and one runs out of juice that means you have to shoot with the remaining one until it too runs out of juice and then wait for charging - while not using your camera. It's inconvenient imho - but not...

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

Wait.. you're kidding me right? The camera doesn't have a charger?!?!? Ok.. so I guess one would have to take that into account in the purchase price. Cheers, Dave

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

Ahhh.. yes.. I can understand that. You're absolutely right regarding how it will apply to "usual" subjects (I think it will really depend on subject matter - mine is 90% people so corner sharpness isn't a make/break issue for me). Regarding DP Review using curved targets - I wasn't implying...

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

Amin, if that's the case how does one explain the playing cards and the "Kodak" text in the full res Ricoh image being blurry vs the Nikon? Cheers, Dave

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

RE: High ISO - looks ok - 6400 is reasonable and will likely appeal to folks - I would need to see both the Nikon and Ricoh on the same image to better determine if there's any real difference between the two though.. 2013-04-17 - Ricoh GR Samples - jimfisher's Photos | SmugMug Cheers, Dave

The New Ricoh GR Announced and Available for Pre-Order ($797 at B&H)

I would concur with what Ray has said - Questions only are regarding Snap and the High ISO. I have looked over DPR's preview on the camera and in looking at their f2.8 comparison I wonder if there's an issue with their test target. They are showing the Nikon being "blurry" in the top left...

    Ricoh New GR Digital rumor

Having used the GRD II and III, I think this next one looks like a winner - as Ray said above it's going to be a knock down drag out fight to see who's left standing between the Coolpix A and the Ricoh. I've opted for the Coolpix A because I can't wait for the Ricoh and I don't know of any...

Nikon COOLPIX A - Low Light Street

Nikon COOLPIX A - Low Light Street

I have been waiting for a replacement to the GRD series and while I keep hearing rumours of a GRD V with an APSC size sensor, I don't know if one will ever be produced. I really adored the ergonomics of the GRD and I think this Nikon has almost equalled those ergonomics. The image quality is...
