When I read the title of the thread, I immediately thought, "poorly". 😁 Maybe I can pick up on the organizational skills and wisdom of others.

    Your experiences with traveling light?

I've been back over a month now after 2 months in Laos, but haven't even downloaded my photos onto the main computer I use.. I arrived home with Covid, which laid me low for a good week, and the day I arrived back in Albuquerque a good friend of mine in town died. I haven't quite got over the...

B&W Black & White, monotone and sepia

IMAGE HEAVY I am never quite sure where to put travel photos, not that I travel all that often. Anyway these were shot at and on the way to the Pak Ou caves in Laos, at the confluence of the Ou river and the Mekong. Pak (actually pronounced with a consonant more between b and p, and unaspirated)...

I've been in Laos about 26 days now, but have had time only recently to work on some photos, in this case those I shot at Wat Phu Champassak, a fascinating place with a history going back to the 5th century, though the visible remaining structures date mostly from the 11th and 12th centuries...

Stroll Seen while strolling...walking and wandering outside

I use Lightroom but not for noise reduction, except the default color noise. The rest I do after exporting a tiff to Photoshop, where I find noise reduction more fine tuned, and where I can always do it on a separate layer and adjust opacity if push comes to shove. It has definitely gotten...

A used 2018 MacBook Pro13, i7 16gigs ram with 512Gb SSD in pristine condition with a one year warranty. Setting it up to take on a trip that will have me away for 8 weeks. I definitely don't like being looked after, nor being spied upon, and I've loved my xps 9380. I may well return to what I know best after an angry retreat to the other side, or I may use both. I have no intention of abandoning my Note 10+ or Samsung tablet for an iPhone, so I won't be taking...

I got a Skype phone number for my trip to be able to meet Apple's requirements of two factor authentication should I run into the need, with Skype on my phone and tablet as well as laptop. I'm not giving away my XPS or i9 Windows desktop, but since I took the plunge in a wave of annoyance at...

I'm desiring a 13 inch MacBook Pro from 2018 i7, 16 gigs of ram, with touch bar, that I saw on ebay after Windows update put my xps 13 into cardiac arrest. I resuscitated it, but I ordered the Mac in a fit of pique that I am not yet over. I'm ready to cross the OS Rubicon, at least on my...

I'll soon be back in Laos for two months, leaving L.A. on March 1. Here's a couple from Nov./Dec. 2019, right before covid made going back impossible. With the trusty Leica x113. I sure do like that camera.

Sony My outa the box experience with my new-to-me used Sony A7Riii

I have used the 35 f2.8, 75-150, 50 f1.8, as well as the 28 f2.8, 50mm macro f3.5, 300,, f4.5, 100mm f2.8, 135mm f3.5. I have no complaints about any of them on my a7ii. Maybe the a7iii, with more resolution would pose a bigger challenge, but I have had nothing but surprising good luck on the...

Adapted Adapted lenses, any make, for any camera

I got rid of this lens, the OM Zuiko 300mm f4.5 when I got the m.zuiko 75-300 zoom, but I regret that decision. Here are some sandhill cranes I stumbled across in a nearby field in 2016. Shot with the E-M5. Magnificent creatures.

That's an awfully good lens, and not just for macro. I still use mine on both the Olympus m43 bodies and the Sony a7ii. Loved it back in the day, and still do. Nice shades, by the way.

Congratulations. Aging can at times be trying. I'm 71 and time is starting to say, "I told you so", but I plan on being around for a while yet. For "I have promises to keep/And miles to go before I sleep." At least I hope so. Being able to lift a camera goes a long way.

Well NY Camera just cancelled my order for the Leitz lens hood to my old 90mm Elmar and 135mm Hektor. No reason, but a full refund. A bit disappointed. I suspect they sold it for a higher price locally.

There is little girl in Laos named Laura (they spell it ຫຼໍລາ with two L sounds, one high one low) after my late mother. I've always liked the lens. I shot almost all of a trip in 2015 with that lens, and I have no complaints about the photos I got. With the original E-M5 I used it with, it was almost pocketable, except I was in Laos, and there was no need for a jacket with copious pockets. Still, it was small...

GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

I bought an original Leica lens hood for the old 90mm Elmar and 135mm Hektor. The reasonable price from NY Camera was offset by the obscene shipping charges, but I still don't regret getting it. My jury rigged alternative just doesn't cut the mustard any more, and I like those lenses...

OK. So I know the problem is Opera, since the same file just uploaded perfectly in Firefox. I cleared the cache in Opera, but not my saved passwords and history. At least it's a browser issue, not something more serious - says I with fingers crossed.

This is what my desktop won't upload, but that my laptop will. 135mm Hektor f4.5 wide open iso12800 on the Sony a7ii. Considering the iso and that the lens was shot wide open, I think it did well.

1270x870 It's very odd. I had trouble with ebay earlier, couldn't get in on my desktop, but had no trouble at all on my laptop and phone. Changed my password to be safe. And here's one shot years ago with the 90mm Elmar f4 mounted on the E-P2, my go-to camera until the E-M5 came out. The lens is misidentified as being made in 1949; that would be the 135 Elmar I have. The 90 is from 1946, and it is still an awfully good lens.

This is a down and dirty comparison of the OM Zuiko 100mm f2.8 and the old screw mount Leitz Elmar 90mm f4 (from 1946). I left the Zuiko image as it came out of the camera, except to resize. The Leitz I tweaked to look close to the Zuiko but also include the original, unaltered version. At...

Micro 4/3 Showcase Olympus 14-150 f4-5.6 II ED Lens

A couple of tests from raw files. Raw gives me a bit more from the 14-150 files ( or any shot). The picture of my dog, Ellie, was shot at iso 10000, giving the lie to the idea that m43 cannot be used at higher iso. And this is a first generation E-M5. It doesn't match my Sony full frame, but...

Well, I just bought the second, weather sealed version of this lens for an upcoming 2 month overseas trip.
