    Ricoh Updated *** Street with GRD's ***

I know which article you're speaking of and I feel this commentary is a bit too politically biased.

Is my DSLR compact enough? Small enough?

Using that site, I'm stunned to see how big the E3 and E5 are compared to the K-5. Those were supposed to be small dSLRs made around the smaller sensor. Those things are utterly huge and comparable to a 5D in certain dimensions.

BTW- is there anything anyone would do differently?

Feedback Me love you longtime, do you wanna be my friend ?

Facebook isn't terribly evil when one knows what it's about. It's great to keep in touch with people and for people to know I'm still alive, even though I'm on another continent and often busy (as are they). Small friends list of people I personally know, accepting only people I know, no...

Christopher Street Day Gay Parade, Dresden DE, 2012

Thanks. It was also a real experience using the primes, which, to be honest, seems a lot more fun than using a zoom. For a while, I've been looking to get that "imperfect" feel that sometimes adds to street shooting scenes, but with a zoom, especially one where I can go wide, I tend to line...

Christopher Street Day Gay Parade, Dresden DE, 2012

Thanks. I posted another picture last week of two guys on a couch on the sidewalk. That's really where this effect became viable. I think it will work quite well in other urban settings, especially to bring out a "grittier" appearance. We have lots of abandoned/derelict buildings out here...

Christopher Street Day Gay Parade, Dresden DE, 2012

Hah, that guy had very, very bad luck. For the non-Euros, out here, it's common for young males and sometimes women to have their pre-wedding parties in the streets, with their friends, silly outfits, getting drunk, being fools. So the guy in the last picture happened to be there with his...

    Expired Pentax M 85 f2 (preferably EU)

Yep, I saw a couple here on fleabay that went for quite nice pricing, but I was away for the weekend, so couldn't monitor them. I got an offer on the german pentax forum, but the guy was obviously making an attempt at gouging. I could simply go and sacrifice some length and speed and gain AF...

I'm looking for one of these, hoping for it to be in ok condition. I've got feelers out in some other forums.

Thanks a bunch. The processing is something I've been developing for some time but I could never get it to work right on my EX1. It's basically a desaturated, high contrast effect in LR, which took me about 15 revisions or so to get. It's pretty temperamental, to be honest, but the results...

Christopher Street Day Gay Parade, Dresden DE, 2012

Thanks. There may be some more on the way, but I got the important ones out first. I have a black and white set that looks, IMO, better, but it's tough to document an event that's about "color" in black and white.

Christopher Street Day Gay Parade, Dresden DE, 2012

I was shopping in the city center today and thankfully, I had my K5 on hand. DELUGE PHOTO: Christopher Street Gay Rights Parade, Dresden Germany, 2012 The scene was chaos and I dove right into the middle of the crowds. The settings were a bit flawed, as I didn't set them back from the last...

Very tough choices. How was the focusing on the 100 WR? The thing is, I'd be using it for concerts and I don't think it would be fast enough as a macro, unless I lock down focusing ranges. In this case, the Tamron 70-200 might be a better bet, but I want to work with some small primes first...

Just Sitting Around On The Street

Cool, nice to know that it works. I'm not totally satisfied, as I wasn't familiar with the cam just yet, but I had to shoot or risk losing the moment. They saw me with the cam on the other side of the street and actually invited me over to shoot, so I did and that was it.

Just Sitting Around On The Street

Thanks, I went for a desaturated, but contrasty look that I often associate with some magazine photos. i'll be developing it more over time and making a collection out of it and hopefully it works out into some sort of sense, or cohesive theme. Correct, it's the Neustadt section of Dresden...

Exactly what I was going for and the other view has more of that look. I might tweak it a bit more in time, but so far, I think I'm satisfied with it as a good early effort in getting to know how the K5 files take to post processing. On the contrary, it's not as easy as I thought, but still...

Just Sitting Around On The Street

One of the first shots with my K5 and FA35 combo. I had absolutely no time to set anything, otherwise I'd have lost the moment.

    Spiral

That was one of the things I really liked about it because it screwed with my eyes. The first version was black and white and looked nice, I thought, but looked flat after I decided to add sepia to it, which added a 3D effect to it. I also have a selenium version, which is darker and very...

    Spiral

Not sure if this works, but it's a type of object I wanted to photograph for a while. I had some fun prepping, shooting, and then processing, which was quite difficult to get just right. It's one of my first few shots from my new K-5 and FA35 F2 combo.

Fuji You gotta see this: taking apart an X100

I would certainly have looked into a claim against the boat owner for the remainder not paid out by insurance, but it's over. This is another reason I carry plastic bags for my electronics. Not fool-proof, but a couple bags will buy time.

'Will the DSLR die? Will small cameras rule the world?' at The Visual Science Lab

The way it looks to me, the dSLR still, surprisingly, has some life. I base this on my own purchase of the K5. Not only that, the new K-30 seems to have breathed further life into the dSLR. Right now, AF needs to be innovated (outside of Nikon and u4/3), so that's a missing piece. To me...

Fuji More new Fuji CSC rumors (drool, drool, drool)

I've seen a $1500 figure, which I'm guessing is body only. This looks like they are targeting it specifically at the Nex7, despite what would be an obvious MP difference. I'm guessing they will go and target based on the shooting experience and handling, as opposed to the spec sheet. Also the...

Slow also. Some pages were not loading at all at one point. Might have been pulling content from my cache to make pages incomplete.

Fuji More new Fuji CSC rumors (drool, drool, drool)

Obviously a photoshop, supposedly from Fuji and not one of the several fan mockups that were based on the leaked, blurry assembly images. The originating site apparently leaked it early and Fuji already made them take it down. Then it went to petapixel and other places.

Is this a good enough price for a Samsung NX100?

Great price. Those cost double or more new. It never pays to buy a Samsung, no matter how good, out of the box. Wait six months and they immediately drop 40%

Feedback Making the Forums a Better Place to Spend Your Time

I think the representation of the "clique" situation here is being misrepresented. Plain and simple, when people are ignored, but people "ration" their interactions for a small group of regulars, then it's a clique. I'm personally not talking about feeling outside because I'm not part of the...

Fuji Fuji X10 In Brighton New Years Eve

Click on photo, click on "actions", then the exif is in the data there. One thing that interests me is the ISO of one photo is listed as "1000". Are the ISO steps that fine, or can one achieve that with auto ISO, or was that an error? One thing I hate about some of the prosumer cams are the...

Fuji Fuji X10 In Brighton New Years Eve

Those seem to be great shots. Did it bring you back to enjoying the cam at all? I keep thinking about the x10 myself, but I'm holding off for a bit. The EX1 still does a nice job up to 800 and under many conditions up to 1600, so it makes me wonder if I can get that one extra stop with the...

    Sony Ongoing Sony NEX-7 adventures.

With the focus peaking, how quickly can one arrive at a decisive point with legacy lenses? Or even with the assist, are they still a bit too slow for dynamic concerts, where the subjects rapidly change distance?

Well, this is not photo.net and you're still living in the past and you're still being inflammatory and still escalating and not providing much openness when people have moved on. Sorry, but cat pictures and memes are all over the internet. Maybe each cat pic shouldn't be posted in two...

Please don't tell me what I'm doing. Maybe you should ask the staff, whom I spoke to in private. You're unfortunately playing the game, as if it's 1999, where when you don't like something you don't read and don't agree with it, it's automatically "trolling", as if people are afraid of that...

Why are you adding things that I didn't say? And your age and time photographing doesn't have bearing here, unless it's you sidestepping that you look down on people younger than you. Again, it's not hard to open the forum up and welcome more people, rather than shutting them out, is it...

See, this might be backing up what I'm saying that forum members are widely ignored, except for a few, while some are rallied around. Again, I would offer that the forum should have wider acceptance and tolerance for a variety of users and encourage postings from everyone, even if you don't...

That's a start. Why can't the kat threads in question just be an ongoing thread for that user and according to the post history, why must they be posted in duplicate each time? The solution seems good to prevent an increasing image of the cat trend.

Feedback Suggestions To Improve Forum Participation

That people stop ignoring a large number of the participants and also take constructive criticism when people offer such suggestions. Encourage diversity in posting and maybe limit the cat pictures going up because it really does make this place look devoted to lolkitties, rather than to people...
