retow, would you rather be in Europe AND the EU, or in Europe outside the EU? And give us a hint where you are: Balkans, CH, Norway, Ukraine, Moldavia, ...?
Hi, Sebarro! First, never apologize for not speaking English. I have lived for 40 years in Germany and I still use the quote from (I think) Churchill: "Life is too short to learn German".
If you can read English well enough to enjoy this forum, that's fine. Welcome!
I'm in the denial phase, as in: it's not really GAS, I don't want a new body, just maybe a 12-40. Or if that's too expensive, maybe a 12-32 ...
I'll have a double Lagavulin, neat.
Paul, I have a soft spot for A'dam since I worked there for 3 years in the 70s. I go back regularly. Thanks for the photos and for reminding me to go and see the 'new' Rijksmuseum ...
Rajiv, I don't think anyone would object to your style of shooting. It boils down, I think, to what you choose to publish. If you have the dignity of man as your guide, I don't think you can go far wrong.
Having experienced Easter in a very poor village in Cameroon, I can relate to this. Thank you Gary, and - for all of us - never forget how rich you are.
I concur: look at the lenses. Are they the ones you need/like? If you want small, m43 is considerably smaller and lighter than APS, without sacrificing quality. Bodies come and go (and depreciate), lenses last.
Marlof, thanks for your thoughts. I have only one M5 (I have an X100 as backup), but the combination 17+45 is my most used.
I tried the 12, but decided to keep my 9-18 instead, since I prefer wider and don't always want to do stitching. And the 9-18 is a very good lens.
I would encourage you...
I'm waiting for a test: I currently use the 9-18 zoom, but might swap it for this, and gain a stop. I had too many problems with flare on the 7-14 I tried.
Samyang have announced a rectilinear 10mm f2.8 prime, which will be available in MFT mount. As usual with Samyang, manual focus:

X100 fan here: hapticly it's perfect, with the new firmware not quite so leisurely, and for street photography you can set it to hyperfocal focus and get instant response. I have a good selection of m43 gear, and still enjoy my X100. On a recent trip to Rome, it's what I took and it didn't let...
Interesting comparison. I once made a similar table, but only comparing the Fuji X and m43, and I was comparing prices, not weights!
Fortunately, I don't yet need to reduce the weight of my m43 gear, and if/when I do, I think I'll just take my X100 :-)
Thanks again!
Fuji says "The phenomenon is fixed that in Manual Focus mode, repeated pressing the shutter button halfway or repeated recording images could move focus position and the distance indicator to near
side." No other changes.
I agree it looks very good, but maybe that's just old 'retro' me talking. I still don't care for big, heavy lenses, so an old Nikon 28 or 35mm lens on this would suit me.
But then, I'm happy with my X100 and its manual controls.
The Df should have very good noise characteristics, though.
That's a side aisle in Santa Maria Maggiore. The legend goes that Mother Mary appeared to both the Pope and a Roman dignitary in a dream one August night, telling them to build a church in her honour on the spot where snow fell the next day (in Rome, in August!).
I didn't have much time, as I was with my wife, her nephew and his (new) wife, so I mostly shot in P-mode, DR and ISO on auto, everything else mostly on default.
Used exposure comp quite often, especially on the night shots.
No, I'm Scottish, live in Germany, worked in Amsterdam for a couple of years, love Brugge, Gent, Tongeren, Veurne, the Ardennes, Antwerpen and the coast, and early Netherlandish painting, and - of course - good Belgian cooking, beer and Jenever :-)
Arden, two extras I really like on my X100: a thumb grip that slots into the hot shoe and a screw in 'soft touch' shutter button. Both cheap on ebay, and really transform the feel of the camera. Get multiple shutter buttons, I've lost two that somehow 'unscrewed' themselves.
I also have a nice...
Thanks, Gus, I'd forgotten that. I find that's the great thing about the X100: once you have it set up, you almost never need to go into the menus.
I took it with me last week to Rome, since I knew I wouldn't have the time to take my OM-D kit; it was perfect.
It's been ages since I was in the X100 menus, so I've probably forgotten some basic thing, but I can't get the level indicator and/or gridlines to appear in the viewfinder, either optical of EVF. They are there on the rear LCD.
Just back from a week in Rome. Took my X100 instead of my M43 kit, since photography wasn't the focus. (My wife's nephew and his new bride wanted my wife to show them Rome: churches, the forum, museums, etc..) I had it in my National Geographic A1212, without the neck/shoulder strap, on my belt...
Gustav, welcome! I shot for about a year with the X100 alone - it really is a wonderful camera. When I had a longing for more flexibility, I bought an m43 kit and sold my Nikon D7000 and assorted lenses.
The m43 kit is great: wide, tele, great primes, but when I need simple, or when family is...
John, it's a pity I don't use flash, otherwise I would be tempted to buy one from you in the hope that some of your mojo would be transferred to me :-)
