Fuji A Change in Platforms Maybe

I sold my D300 and upgraded to a D500. If you think the D300 AF-C was good...it feels like a piker compared to the D500. The D500, in my opinion, is an evolution not just an upgrade.
I've used it for all kinds of sports, a trip to Yellowstone.

Nikon brought out the 300/4E PF, that and a TC14E-III got me as close as I needed to be for wildlife and sports.
I pitted the Olympus EM1 Mark II against the D500, no contest, and I was even using a Tamron 70-200/2.8VC on the D500 and the 40-150/2.8 on the EM1 Mark II.

I do run multiple kits and take the gear I need for the shoot I am going to do. If it is sports or weddings, I'm going with the D500 and D700.

For everything else, I can be very happy with my m43 kit of EM5 Mark II and PEN-F.
Best thing to do is to rent or borrow what you don't already have and see if it gets you where you need to be.

The things I can control (photography) being one, is not the cause of my frustration , the thing I can't control for the first time in my life( Health ) is.

Tim I want you to know I'm thinking about you. Whenever we encounter things over which we have little to no control it conjures up all sorts of thoughts and emotions. It is a normal reaction the same as a fever is to the flu. The mental part of the game + the physical pain = one hell of a battle. I have confidence you will examine every possibility and hopefully find something that will allow you to be in a better place. I admire your courage in attempting to find a way to express your creative side. You are an inspirational example of not giving up. Best to you as you go to the spinal specialists and explore options.

So in conclusion to this I made a deal with myself to work on the source of my frustration . I am trying a drug free approach, with yoga, stretches and walking, while the pain is still there my mind is more clear and I'm more at peace with things already. I have walked a mile each day the past two and really the pain level is not much different than with the prescriptions.

Sorry to hear that you are having a tough battle. I can definitely relate to physical issues keeping you from doing the things you love. It sounds like you have a good grasp on moving in the direction of getting back to doing the things you love without pain. You'll be shooting with whatever camera you want to soon enough.

I am unable to sell off my Fuji gear to make an equipment change because I just don't want to. I have to much good glass to be that stupid. I will pick up another Nikon( because I miss the experience of shooting them ) when I can find the one I want, I'm just not going back to a crop sensor Nikon camera, but I will keep and expand my Fuji gear.
The new diet and exercise routine has helped my back quite a bit, but the most important thing is dropping the narcotics has made the most improvement in my life. A clean mind can have a plan you're at peace with. I feel pretty good right now. My miles are a little less painful.
As far as the Grandkids sports, one has a mother that shoots semi pro, the other two have a father that is an excellent photographer. I'm 65, instead of stressing over it I'll try and enjoy it. Thanks for tolerating me these last few months. They have not been fun.

Great to hear that you’re doing well. Sounds like you have already made great progress. And rubish about “tolerating you” the last few months. You’re one of our pals. And given the distances between us, being here for you online is one of the things we can do for you. Stealing from one of the greatest episodes of TV ever, to serve man is not a cookbook here. It’s what pals do. Plus, if you’re looking into Nikon full frame. You know how we love to spend other people’s money.

Im glad your doing better Tim. Diet and physical therapy sure helped my back. Your on a good path, good luck.

I think a lot of people underestimate the value of a good physical therapist. My wife (knee) and I (back, shoulders and elbow) all recovered from serious issues with just the knowledge of a PT.

Glad you are on a positive path.
