Greeting Camerads!

I was an avid film shooter back in the day with photography being a family hobby. I ended up in hiatus for a decade or so. I was lounging around SeriousCompacts for awhile, just trying to keep up-to-date with the world of photography. I ended up joining TalkNex in 2011 when I bought a NEX-5, my first digtal camera. Later on I've decided to migrate to Fuji when I bought an X Pro 1 and ended up going back to SeriousCompacts. I moved to FujiXspot when it was founded and now I'm here :th_salute:.
It's been a very interesting ride so far, and I'm excited to see what happens next.

I shot film for several years, eventually getting out of photography for athletic competition. Then getting back into photography, going to Canon digital since I shot Canon film cameras. At some point I realized that packing large cameras and lenses around while covering two and three day events was getting too hard on the body. Requiring a day or two of recovery. That was at the very end of 2013. A lot of my friends were ditching their Canon and Nikon systems, making the move to Fuji. So trusting their judgment, I followed along with them. Finding Fuji X Spot immediately after making my switch. And eventually Serious Compacts.

Started on m43, then Serious Compacts/Photographers Lounge.

Photography is a fun pursuit to record what’s up with me, nothing more, nothing less. I find it fun and easy where I have lots of light and shade, but challenging where I don’t. I own a bit of everything (M43/APSC/FF). G.A.S is always sacrificed in favour of financial responsibility to my still young family and I am a long way off retirement. However, gear-wise, I reckon I’m over half way to the end of the journey of figuring out what’s best for me (I imagine in a very long time this process will end up with me owning a Leica M and Summilux which I’ll probably won’t get the hang of and be disappointed with).

I have used Film cameras, mostly Contax, Nikon and Leica for over 30 years. I joined S.C. many years ago after a long stint on the Leica Forum, where I started the One Challenge, Barnack Challenge and Forum Book all of which are still running. I came in search of info about my Ricoh GXR, which I had with a Leica M module for my then extensive collection of lenses. I acquired a Fuji X10 and gradually transitioned to Fuji X. I have been a moderator on S.C, XSpot and Leica Place for years - in the case of the latter two, since they started. Today I use mostly Fuji X100F and X-Pro2, plus a Ricoh GR. On the film front I still run a Leica - a IID, plus a Rollei 35 and a pimped Olympus Trip.

I have little time for photography lately; I struck out on my own last year and now run two companies, which consume most of my time. I am also an author and will publish my second thriller later this year; the hero is a photographer...

Longtime SC / PL / SC member, since 2010. FujiXspot member since 2013, but I haven't posted much there recently. Completely agnostic, in camera brands and otherwise.

I used to love mostly (super)wide angles taking everything in, but as time goes on i find myself drawn more to simple compositions and compression.

The X100's 35mm equivalent lens does neither, being a spectacularly unspectacular focal length, and still it's a camera I can only see myself replacing with a newer one in the X100 series... and I'd like to add a Sony RX10.3 or .4 to the stable one day.

I was about to ask when “Sharp Focus” is going to be published, I’m growing old and grey waiting here Bill!

Hi everyone, I've been in Serious Compacts for 5 years or so. Also FujiXspot, ForeverFilm and mu-43. I suffer badly from GAS and CIS (Chronic Indecision Syndrome) so I find I don't settle on any one camera or even system for long. Plus I like trying new stuff out! Currently I have a Canon G5X as my serious compact, and a Fuji X-T1 as my serious less compact. I may either get an X100T at some point, or ditch the ILC and get a decent superzoom instead. See what I mean about indecisive? I'm really enjoying mucking about with old film cameras and will get my own lab-box system for developing if I manage to move to a bigger house this year. As far as photography styles go, being a member of a mono club tends me towards that side of things, but apart from a brief flurry of activity a few weeks ago, I've been creatively moribund since the end of SiJ 18. So I'm hoping for Spring and a return to getting out and about, and taking photos of stuff!

Its on the way... I reckon early Summer if I pull my digit out. It's longer than Overexposed, but extremely topical... All about a Russian oligarch plotting to replace Putin with the help of the Orthodox Church and certain members of the British royal family. He kidnaps Guy Miller's wife and...
Nice one Bill, hopefully in paperback as well?

The Cry of the Guanaco

I'm a motorcycle journalist, primarily for RoadRUNNER Magazine. I typically carry my camera gear in a backpack to protect against road vibrations, so I'm perpetually in search of smaller cameras that can get the job done.

That has meant, at various times, Pentax DSLRs, serious compacts like the Ricoh GX100 and Pentax Q (took the photo above), and currently M43 bodies and lenses (Lumix bodies, mix of Lumix/Olympus lenses).

I'm originally coming from seriouscompact.blogspot.com :).

I've had a real slump in terms of interest in using a camera over the past year or two. In the past, new gear helped jumpstart me out of these kinds of lulls, more than once. I recently picked up the Oly 45/1.2, and it seems like just the lens to get me going again. Here's a recent shot of my main model, now 4 1/2 years old:

She looks so big now!

I was/am a member of Amin's Leica, Fuji, Sony and M4/3 sites. But my primary home was Serious Compacts. I've been taking a hiatus from photography for the last 2-3 years. I used to be the resident gearhead who was buying every new mirrorless (not branded with Nikon, Samsung or Canon) that came into the market. Then getting married put an end to that. We then got a kiddo who's 20 months now, but I am slowly getting back in the photography groove. However, due to the nature of my job, I am being cautious with what I post. I love Amin's sites and I do miss the "cameradarie" of old.

I am currently using th XT10 and GX85, and sometimes the EM1i. I recently tested the G9 and EM1ii. I am tempted by the XT2 and XH1. I just recently traded the original A7 away for a PL12-60 lens. So I am effectively out of Sony for now (although I still have FE lenses and I am totally tempted by the upcoming A7iii). I also still have a M9, but the sensor has a crack on it. In any event, my eye sight is starting to make manual focus more of a challenge.

Whatever happened to Ray and BB?

I hope everyone is doing well. Greetings and cheers!

I started with photo.net and nikonians back around 06'. Shortly after nikoncafe became a home as I went through the various Nikon dslrs until I tried an EPM-1(year?). Since then it's been a bouncing ball between Sony, Fuji, back to m43 and recently a try with Pentax aps-c(the only system left).

I enjoy the whole group of sites - great job Amin - this one most of all - it's where gear takes a back seat for me - kind of - which is unusual.

Oh yes!

A quick plug - new readers should start with Overexposed, available now via Amazon in Kindle and Paperback formats ;)

I have been carrying a camera since high school, but got serious about photography in college where I worked at a modeling agency for a couple of years(1976-77). I have used Fuji, Canon, Minolta, and Olympus film systems over the years. I still have a Canon 7D, but I use Fujifilm almost exclusively now. I have two X-T1 bodies and a bunch of lenses, an X100S, and an X20. I shoot anything that will sit still long enough for me to take a picture, but most of my photos of late center around activities with my 6 year old grandson. I still like to shoot film, I'm particular fond of old rangefinder cameras. I just picked up a Konica III that's nearly as old as I am. I have enjoyed the forum immensely, but it has definitely cost me some money. ;-)

m43 user here. I also have an RX100. I buy and resell FF it seems annually. Back in buying mode. I take pictures for a K8 school, so I don't publish those pictures here. Other pics are family, and generally don't post those. Travel pics get posted, but money has been tight lately, so travel has been tight. So....lately, mostly enjoying the work of others :)

My main events are Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, so I rarely post them here or on my FB business page.

I started taking pictures as a child in the late 1950's with various Kodak Brownies (I still have some) and 620 film. I took pictures of family, friends, buildings, trees and vacations with my family and other events. As a young teenager I was given a used Fujica rangefinder and started my 35mm film journey. I eventually graduated to a Nikon FM SLR and set up a B&W darkroom in the first house we owned. I have thousands of B&W images and prints, and hundreds of transparencies and now tens of thousands of digital image files.

I was always frugal with camera purchases, using the FM for 22 years. In 2004 I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 and enjoyed it for about 8 years. I graduated (downsized) to the smaller Lumix ZS8, then moved to the more versatile LX7 and a year or so later I got an LX100, my current ‘one-and-only.’ The LX100 allowed me to return to the 'fully manual' kind of photography I had enjoyed decades ago, with up to date options offered by a full featured camera. I have given up the long-zoom for other features, but there are times I wish my camera had more reach.

Soon after purchasing the LX100, December 2015, I came across and joined Photographer’s Lounge to show images, share ideas, seek guidance, help others, and discuss small cameras.

Most of my current pictures are of my grandchildren; none of these are posted on public sites. A portion of the rest of my collection are shared here and on Flickr.

NEW CHAPTER — January 2022
My LX100 days have come to an end. In the last two months the LX100 sensor has attracted a few bothersome dust particles that I cannot shake or vacuum loose and the zoom actuator at the shutter release does not work reliably. For a while I had my eyes on the LX100 M2, but I decided that I would not buy another fixed lens camera that could potentially result in the same dust problem. So, I purchased a Lumix GX9 with the kit lens (12-60 mm). I’ve had it for a couple of days and I’m still working through the menu system and the controls. Images to follow. . .
