Fuji X-H1 annoying feature!

An annoying feature of the new wonder machine is “Power Saving Mode” in that when using the LCD or EVF in normal mode after about 10-15 seconds of viewing but otherwise inactivity, the EVF and LCD go into power saving mode and the refresh rate is halved and the view becomes a bit jittery and jerky as the screens then struggle to keep the smoothness of the usual operation! Press a the shutter halfway or the back focus button and the smooth operation returns for a short while

Apparently this is a feature not a fault as Fuji UK support informed me! also this feature happens on the X-T2 as well, this phenomenon doesn’t happen in boost mode. Fuji UK promised to pass on my comments to Japan. I never noticed this on my X-T2!

Hopefully a firmware update will give the opportunity to switch this feature off.

I wonder if it's not as much heat-related as battery-related. And if so ... there's not much they'd probably be willing to do about it, methinks. If they decided consciously to do this because of heat ("if"), then they probably felt they had no choice. Here's hoping.

According to Fuji UK support it is a power saving feature! It is I’m afraid disingenuous of Fuji to act as a big brother and not give me the opportunity to turn this feature off, after all there is some control of the power down facility from 5 minutes to off, Fuji why not for the VF + LCD system. From my viewpoint get rid of it altogether!!!

Hopefully some Fuji person will take notice!

I’ve just checked out the various power settings on my XPro2, the only time the refresh rate of the screens drops is in economy mode. If you use in standard or high performance mode with auto power save set to off , the lcd and evf don’t slow down.

But you do have the option to switch it off. Just stay out of economy mode in the power options. You have plenty of batteries. And I’ve found very little difference in battery usage between economy and standard.
Unless of course the new model has not the same options ?

I haven't seen what you describe on my XT2. But, the first thing I do with each of my cameras when I get them is turn off all of the sleep and power save options I find so that the camera stays on until I use the power button to turn it off. However, I noticed that the X-T2 will still go to sleep if I leave it idle long enough and I have to press the shutter release to wake it up. I'm still looking to see if I missed a parameter.

I’ve just looked at the XT2 manual , and it is different to my xpro2 power management setup menu. That does surprise me. I though they wouldn’t be almost identical. It does say you can turn off auto power off though

Same "feature" as in the X-T2 and X-Pro2. But in the X-Pro2 we can turn it off. Only Boost mode cancels the power save mode in the T2 and H1. Even more annoying in the H1: EVF-only is always in power-save mode when the signal is output via an HDMI cable. Fuji says it is a feature. Cant's turn it off, and it's mandatory even when the camera is getting power from am external power supply.

There are some modes where “Boost Mode” is not available.
Why if it is a power saving action why does it not happen in boost mode which presumedly uses more power!

To my eyes it’s beginning to look like a bug! Shame.
