Welcome to all of the newly integrated members to what was the Serious Compacts' photo challenge! All are invited to participate regardless of the size or manufacture of their particular camera.
This will be the inaugural photo challenge based upon a long standing tradition here.
And what better subject for this challenge than our site's new name? "Camaraderie"

A definition from the urbandictionary.com:
"The phenomenon by which a group of people who hardly know each other will instantaneously smile, hug, and act like the best of friends whenever a camera is pointed in their direction. The effect is exacerbated with the addition of alcohol."

Show us your best Camaraderie photo. Whether it be from the definition above, or from your own interpretation. Broad translation of the theme is encouraged!

Good luck and good shooting!

The Challenge will run for two weeks from today the 17th of March 2018 until sometime around or on April 1, 2018.

All the usual Challenge RULES will apply, including:

1. Either take pictures that match the nominated theme or select some from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the images in order to enter it.

2. Only one entry per salon, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement pictures that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

3. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo-challenge, after all!

4. The winner will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Challenge, and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the SC Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

5. The curator cannot enter his or her own salon

(P.S. I know it's not a technically perfect shot, and it was taken years ago, but when I read the theme, this sprang to mind, so here you are; freshly processed for this challenge ...)

It is pleasure to have this opportunity to comment on and choose a winner of this challenge.

Webster's defines it more broadly than the urbandictionary.com and we see this in our group of submissions as well.
camaraderie
: a spirit of friendly good-fellowship

A few comments on each photo in the order of submission:

Matt (MoonMind): This image perfectly fits the urban dictionary's definition and seems to my mind to be an absolute right on way to kick off the new combined site. Well done! This image really shows happy people taking fully of todays digital age's instant image. I suspect the image was shared electronically soon after. By the way Matt, I never really told you I love your site name 'MoonMind'. Thanks for kicking this off with a great image.

Garry (Ripleysbaby): Fantastic image. Loved it the second I saw it. While the sheep may not appreciate the camaraderie as much as human would, it makes for compelling image. And it says something about how we all tend to follow in our groups. Some subtle social commentary at work?

Brent (bluzcity): This looks like a great time. I really like this kind of candid image that reveals a 'moment' can fleet by if not captured like this to share. Great interpretation of the theme.

Dave (davect01): This is a cool photo. And it touches close to my heart since I have 2 daughters who grew in close proximity to 2 similarly aged cousins. We had a lot of moments just like this. I only wish I could flip the image around to see their faces. Definitely some great camaraderie going on here.

ravonn: I can also relate to this image. Having recently travel to NYC and been caught in an umbrella battering wind and rain storm with one of my daughters. Fits the theme well. As is said, misery loves company. Nice capture.

Steve (drd1135): What a great image. I love that the subjects are having such a great time that they seemingly are unaware of the photo being taken. Looks like one of those bonding activities that make school and work a real pleasure. Thanks for sharing. Right on the theme.

Miguel (MiguelATF): I can tell there is some real camaraderie here. I love the image and the emotion that is evidently playing out. Nice colors here too. An excellent submission.

Bart (bartjeej): This is a beautiful image. I could see this one in brochure for a adventure vacation. Showing a wonderful balustrade along a beautiful oceanside and some real camaraderie of kids growing up and making memories together. Very nice.

This was a wonderful 1st challenge and I hope everyone enjoyed the submissions as much as I have. Thanks to all who submitted and viewed the images.
There is a clear winner for me and I suspected it would be it the moment I saw it. Garry (Ripleysbaby) your sheep take it away. Congratulations!
It is now my honor to pass the proverbial challenge baton over to you.

Don, thank you for the vote. What a pleasant surprise to wake up to this morning. I will get on to the task of setting a new theme while at work today. Not an easy thing to do when there have been so many great challenge subjects in the past.
