Greetings everyone. It's been a while, again! I hope everyone is doing well.
I'm starting to use continuous auto focus + high speed shooting more as the kiddo is getting faster and faster. In most cameras, we get to choose zone area auto focus where we use a portion of the AF points, instead of the entire area of the frame, or just a single point.
I am trying to understand what advantages or disadvantages are there for using different shapes of auto focus zones. For example, the EM1ii has a five point AF zone shaped like a plus sign. It also has an option for a nine point square shaped zone. Panasonic cameras have an option for diamond shaped auto focus zones.
Any information and guidance about focus zone shapes is deeply appreciated.
