I would LOVE to see the results of this combo. I've often contemplated getting an OLy and an adapter so I can use my pentax primes but ppl in PF said not to, the output would not be worth it. I definitely dont believe that and would love to see how this combo goes.

This is an old thread, and many of the Attachments were lost due to forum software changes- I've cleaned it up some.

I'm reviving it.

Argus Cintar converted to Contax mount, with an adapter; Wollensak 35/2 Raptar converted to Contax mount with an Adapter, and a Schneider 5cm F2.8 Xenar from a dead Agfa Karat converted to RF-Coupled Leica mount, with an adapter. The Xenar was made in the early 1940s, is fully coated, and rare as it uses 5 elements in a Tessar design.

Not as much time these days for lens projects- work has been busy.

I shoot with adapted lenses much of the time, so this thread is ideal for me :)

Let's start with my budget 50mm/1.2

The lens only cost under £10 but needing a homemade adapter, which is somewhat Heath-Robinson.

In brighter conditions I've needed to add a paper aperture to bring the light down to the levels my camera can manage. A rather small dolphin shape did the trick here (at the cost of severe vignetting):

The helicoid has enough available to focus down to a few inches:

Here's a £50 c-mount microscope objective jury rigged to mount without the 0.5x relay lens:

Adapted this way it goes from a roughly 3x macro (with excellent working distance of around 9cm) to infinity focus (~100mm f/9) just with the zoom control & helicoid.

Vignetting is noticeable at more than 2x magnification as well as for infinity, but I don't consider that a concern.

Good Morning,

I guess I'll try bringing this thread back to life. I ran the Canon FDn 500mm f4.5L this morning with a MetaBones Speedbooster Ultra (0.71X) on an M1. The effective combo is ~355mm @ f3.2 and the crop on MFT makes the view around 710mm. The IBIS is very good on this older body and combined with a gimbal mount makes it a great setup that is easy to carry into the woodlands.

Regards,

Edd

I love using legacy lenses on my Olympus cameras, so must look for some examples, and actually take the lenses for a walk. There's a preloved shop in Masterton that has some older Olympus gear - was tempted a couple of months ago, but haven't been working much, after being unwell for a few months, so don't have the $$$ at the moment. any older Olympus lenses to watch out for.

My main legacy lenses that I use are both Minolta. I also have a Canon FD, and Helios, but don't know if I've tried it on Olympus.
