Micro 4/3 Using my GF2 as a point and shoot

After some attempts to sell my GF2 (and none of them successful) I figured it was the universe telling me to keep the camera so I decided to try and see where I could fit it in. For most of my shots I use a Panasonic G2. I quite like it and find it VERY comfortable to use. After some thought I decided that I should treat the GF2 like a point and shoot so I strapped my 14/2.5 set it to full auto and took a little walk. It worked far better than I expected. I suppose because I didn't have nay expectations about how it would work I found my self pretty satisfied with the experience.

The GF2 is a bit larger than the LX3 or LX5 (but not dramatically so). With the 14 on it the focus is fast and quiet. The touch screen is useable (more than I'd like to admit) and the 1080 video is a nice bonus when using it as a P&S. I was all set to sell it off and just use the G2 but I have to admit that not selling it may have been a blessing in disguise. I don't know why I never thought of this before but I'm glad I've had the chance to finally discover it.

Here is a little of what it's capable of...

Nice little set of images. Most of the time it's not the camera but the person using it. I find the 20mm f1.7 a good walk about lens but did have fun with the 14mm when i had one. Glad you have kept the GF2 and are using it.

I love this image, the colors, the draw and the bokeh but I love your cautionary tale even more.
Bravo!

You have expressed exactly the problem I'm having with my E-P3 - the kit zooms are great performers, but if I just had a little pancake lens then I could actually pocket it or on carry on neckstrap inside my vest without snagging or bulging virtually everywhere. You have done well with your "snapshot" outfit.

Agreed, the MK 2 Kit lens is awesome, tho larger.
