Yup, I'm trying to avoid looking at the 90/2 Showcase for exactly that reason!
Andy I bought a 90 out of the blue when a mint copy became available for 650. I have started to sell it numerous times but like my 16, when I need it I need it. I would be tempted to trade the 90 for a 56 even though in my eyes the 90 is a very capable portrait lens and is a razor. Absolutely the sharpest lens in my bag.

If Fuji ever does a version 2 of this lens with weather sealing, I would have to give that serious consideration.
That's one of the reasons I will hold onto the 90. That and now with the XT20 I can crop it very hard and get away with it if needed. If it had IS it would be perfect. I've passed on the XT2 in favor of a future body with IBIS for this reason.

The one at middle front is my daughter so I guess that's close enough Mike. Seriously this is the only hole in my primes left to fill and for some reason I keep getting side tracked.
It is definitely a banging lens and a hole in your arsenal of lenses you would do well to fill, if the funds permit, were it me I would make the funds permit, sell your mother-in-law. :bravo-009:

I'm amazed at how versatile it is. I was torn between the 90 and the 56 and I definitely made the right choice. Hopefully this is my lens GAS exhausted for a while now (he said vainly hoping, yet knowing that it wasn't true).

56 is juuuuuust wide enough to still make itself quite usefull, as long as you can get ~10 feet away from people. An incomplete list of jobs I have used mine for...

- Bike racing events, with a circ polarizer on it to drop exposure by ~2 stops. Nothing like shooting at f2, 1/4000 to isolate flying subjects.

- Hiking in tall trees… seriously. Going along a trail, you just look for these little vignettes and expose for the bright spots. No one ever seems to do this, which means if you pull it off, your shots look different than everyone else’s.

- Indoor people events. I looooove having this lens in a crowded room, because when you see a nice little moment happening 20 feet away, you can slice them out of their surroundings with DOF.
