[Solution Found] Apple Photos

I've only just discovered that I can't send to flickr directly from Apple Photos. Nor can I send from Aperture, or any application which requires Apple's Internet accounts information. Go on, MacOS users... prove me wrong and give me a solution. As far as I can work out, the only app which I own and which can, is Lightroom!

HELLS BELLS AND BUCKETS OF BLOOD!!!!

Sue, I love that expression...is that some Australian specialty...I'm not familiar with it.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution, but maybe a different way to look at it. I have always gone to flickr first and used their upload structure, rather than exporting from a software program. Maybe that won't work for you if you're accustomed to doing it your way. Maybe some Applehead can reveal some secret handshake to save you some grief.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, your Photos content can sync automatically to those devices via iCloud. From there, there’s a direct upload to Flickr.

@bassman No, there isnt anymore. There used to be. For at least 4 years, it has not been possible to set up a Flickr account on one's Mac. Its not just me, there are many posts in Apple Discussions and theres no solution. No problems with iOS, but only if you have the flickr apps on board. I'm going hunting for a flickr app for MacOS. IN the meantime I bought Lyn (suggested in my other cranky thread) and indeed, its a very nice, neat FAST little manager. It can also send to Flickr.

I’m not aware of this issue (Photos to Flickr) because I have always exported images to a ‘holding’ folder, named “To Flickr,” and then uploaded to Flickr from this folder. Doesn't seem so arduous.

And, I was not aware of the impossibility of creating a Flickr account with a Mac. I created my account in 2005 with a Windows machine. So, perhaps an account can be created on someone else’s Windows computer, or at a library, and then access it with your Mac. There is no access problem for current accounts — I’ve been using my Mac with Flickr since 2009.

I don't think people are understanding whats going on here. Its not a matter of not being able to create an account. I have done that, it even exists on my Mac Mini, because it was created years ago. BUT it is not possible to use it. flickr changed the api in 2014 from standard to SSL. Clearly apple have not updated (want us to buy icloud, i dunno) and it is simply NOT POSSIBLE to use the Apple internet accounts in Settings, to have a permanent login to flickr so sharing can work. As the error says on my mac, "Sharekit is not authorised to use <whatever it was>". It can NOT be done until or unless apple does an update. Of course, I know I can upload via the web, thats what I have been doing. I would prefer to make it all as seamless as possible.

I think I understand your dilemma. I don’t use my Apple internet account for anything other than communicating with Apple. Nor do I use iCloud. I access Flickr via Safari and with the Flickr app on my iPad. I don’t upload images from the iPad, however.

Hi Sue.
I just sent a photo to Flickr via Apple photos with the share button on my MacBook Pro. Am I missing the question?
NO, that is what I cannot do (and nor can others in Discussions)!!! I get the message that no account is set up, but when I try to set up, I invariably get a message that the account is unable to be verified) Which OS? I am only on Sierra. Please oh please let it be something simple.

How inspiring! I just included Flickr in my Photos share accounts and uploaded a picture.
So is the problem only for iCloud accounts?

OHMY!! Now two of you can get it done. Starting to feel like a prize idiot here. I dont think it has anything to do with iCloud. MY flickr account is yahoo, and I dont use icloud for anything except storing various databases and i let photostream too..

Back to seeking a solution again.

Sue, FYI my Mac OS is Sierra. When I included my Flickr account in the Photos Share dialogue box, it required my log in and password. After a few seconds of processing . . . voilà!

Well damn. Me too... but no joy with login.

This is, by the way, the same information I use to log in on the web, and to yahoo email, and also to the flickr apps. So I know the user and pass is correct. but that is what I get. Crazy. Its been like that ever since I got this lappie second hand a few years ago. But that isnt the problem either, because the Mini cant upload from Photos to flickr either. The account is intact, but I get Sharekit is not (enabled/authorised) whatever.

Same "problem" here, although I never noticed it because I only upload my photos to Flickr with the Flickr upload. Those Flickr guys do everything they can to *@!&%! Apple . . .

A solution to this problem is beyond my sphere of knowledge. My best suggestion is to seek help in MacOS specific forums as well as photog forums.

Well, it was useful asking here because until I did, I thought the problem was something everyone was suffering. Apparently not. So at least I know there is a solution, its just a matter of finding it. I suspect a backup and a clean install may be the only solution.
