Fuji Cancelling CC

One of the things about PS I liked was how it was able to deal with CA, which I had (have) heaps of, in using a Tamron 70-300 lens. But also, it seems, with other lenses I didnt expect it from. I no longer have PS and have not yet found an application either on Mac or on my iPad, which deals specifically with those sorts of lens issues. Of course, in playing with lots of apps, I have probably missed seeing the obvious.

Can anyone enlighten?

For now I'm testing Exposere X3. I think, for me that is, it's good to change the software every once in a while, leave the comfort zone , try something new. And so far I'm very happy with Exposere X3. Of course I still use Affinity and Picktorial. Right now Luminar is still on the harddrive but isn't use anymore.

Affinity Photo has the CA filter, I never used it, so can"t tell more . . .

Sue, Capture One and LR have some really good lens correction built in. Including controls for CA. I also have Affinity, but also have not tried it's CA correction.

I guess in the end , the Devil I know is easier to work with than the Devil I don't. I have been unable to get the look I want out of any other software. Really do like Exposure 3 and have it as a plug in along with NIK, and a very select few of Topaz plug ins. I run my RAW files through X-Transformer, also a plug in in Lightroom. It's just too damn convenient. 90% of my work is done in Lightroom and the plugins. If something needs to be removed it goes to PS. I also do not sharpen in Lightroom, everything goes through smart sharpen in PS if needed. Amazingly I go through this process rather quickly.

So what's the best DAM? or application that has a DAM feature? Recommendations?
Main features for me are:
  • Organize / view by folders and include images in sub-folders.
  • Library Filters - This is a BIG one for me.
Pretty much every other thing I use LR is pretty easy to find.

I use filters just about every time I go into LR. And right now I'm consolidating some backups and externals that I seem to have created thousands of duplicates (maybe as many as 10k-15k). Being able to quickly filter, change order of filters,.... is something I don't want to do without. I've seen some DAMs where to have to type in the filter criteria, not what I want at all. I mean look at what some of the old (and new in the case of an RX100 vI) P&S give you for lens information:

Even my old Fuji S5 Pro wasn't much better, but at Least I might be able to get those:

Thanks Bobby. C1 is beyond my means, sadly, and although I have LR6 (standalone), I have never really adapted to using it to its fullest (and would rather not get into Adobe again). Affinity looks the goods, based on that video.

I was also wondering of DXO Photolab might be worth a look, and OnOne RAW. I guess trial versions of all of them before I commit.

[edit] Problem solved. On1 and DXO didn't quite do the job, On1 *almost* made it, but was unable to give enough control. I decided against Affinity, I was in the beta trials prior to initial release and just didnt really get it. No idea why I bought it for iPad, because I'm still none the wiser. As a last ditch effort, I reinstalled Aftershot 3 and lo and behold, thats what I needed. I got it as a freebie via ephotozine but have been able to upgrade to Pro at lower cost. All good.

Oh well. thought it may be worth a try.
I haven't used it, came across it the other day
It was, it actually surprised me. A while ago it seems I check the wrong box a few times when I archived some things to DNG and clicked Lossy instead of Lossless. That's the one that normally causes the problem. DigiKam didn't have a problem with either.

I've been Adobe-free since Christmas and don't miss it. A lot of the plugins are now stand-alone programs or can be set to run as such. (eg On1, Perfectly Clear, Franzis, Topaz). You can even run Nik by setting a desktop shortcut to the .exe files.
