For general use in carrying around a NEX camera I can fully recommend this case which I bought on spec to see if it was useable since it's price was VERY CHEAP,...less than £8 including free p&p from Hong Kong!!!

Camera Case Bag for Sony DSC HX100V HX1 NEX-5 NEX-3 TOP | eBay

I am now using this case successfully for daily carry,...it's NOT a perfect solution and has some small 'cons' such as a toggle fixing rather than a velcro closure (although the toggle is quieter to open discretely) However, for the very small cost this case is EXCELLENT and without any equivalent that I have been able to find, soo it might be of interest to others. Construction/quality is good and has reasonable padding etc. Obviously, this case is cheap enough to buy to 'customise' to ones own requirements.

In use the case can accomodate the NEX with both flash attachment and tripod plate afixed. There is sufficient depth that a loger lens than the kit zoom can fit,....a NEX with Canon FD 35 to 70mm is a good fit. A small velcro insert fits under the body of the camera so that fit is secure and neat.

I have a very similar bag/pouch. I got it at I Goldberg's Army Navy store.
It's a tactical pouch that you can use a strap or wear on your belt.
I do the belt thing.
It holds my X100, 3 batteries, headphones for the iPhone, external iPhone charger, lenspen, chewing gum and maybe some other things I don't use.
It's very compact and cost $10.00 USD. It comes in black, tan or camo.

NEX case

Looks nice, and the Sony logo is optional!

I use an old belt-case that is worn and the zipper is failing, so I may just replace it with this.

Thanks,

I'm using this case every day now to carry NEX in the forest,.....there is a substantial belt loop on the back and my wide belt goes thru this by removing blt from my army lightweight denims first,....the case then rests above my left hip at rear, so out of the way of my elbow. There is also a neckstrap provided which attaches to 'D' rings either side but I have not used this as yet. I sometimes carry a larger zoom in a 'Camera Care System' padded case above my other hip.

The 'Sony' logo unfortunately came already afixed. Although I removed it as carefully as I could it left two small holes where is was cleated to the case,...which is a pity as it looks a little unsightly. I was hoping it would not be fitted as mentioned in the advert, but there we are!

There may be better ways to carry a NEX but this case is certainly worth the £8.
