Ricoh GR III rumor

I know this rumour had to be put out to give some sort of reassurance to people like me thinking the product had finally come to the end of the line, but still...September? That's a long time. Bit of a tease isn't it.

not much to get excited about...if it were something revolutionary, it would have a new name....not a new roman numeral.

more megapickles is all I would expect. Those that are holding their breath waiting for weather sealing will likely pass out.

I would like better high iso performance. I often find myself in these situations which is why I opted for the X70. I would prefer the sharper lens of the GR, however.

More MP please. That is all that I would like. No tilty, touchy screens, no fancy-schmancy remote control via a portable telephone, no increase in size, no moving picture ability. It is close to a perfect tool now; bells and whistles do not an improvement make.

Go on to other forums (well ok, the main one, you know, where people like to argue) and you'll see a wish list for the new model which would basically turn the GR into an RX100.
I can see that. I’d like to see the GR stay simple and thin, i.e., pocketable. Few cameras have stayed that way and it would be nice to have the choice.

I'd add just one more thing: weather and dust resistance. More than a few GR's and GR II's have had issues with dust inside. And it wouldn't change the size or controls.

Re the dust - I remember a lot of people making a big deal out of putting the camera in their jean pocket as is and without some sort of cover. Well you’re never going to eliminate dust doing that.

It's certainly shaping up to become quite an exciting year - even if one's not in the market for anything specific (Olympus E-M5 III, GR III - and Sony has already released a very compelling A7 III ...).

It will also be interesting to see what Nikon come up with. Their management keep stating that although the present Nikon 1 bodies are mainly discontinued the 1" sensor concept is not. The lenses for Nikon 1 still seem in plentiful supply and they seem certain to be about to unveil some high end mirrorless cameras.

I hope they come up with a redesigned Nikon 1 series. I still like mine but am lately having problems with the rear screen on the V1, and horror of horrors, I cant even find my J1. And cant afford to replace either of them. Yet. And I have all those lenses.

What I'd like to see:

An AFFORDABLE hot shoe optical viewfinder or sport finder add on
Higher MP count sensor
Image stabilization
an actual app for smart phones
wifi connectivity for remote camera control and file transfer

Even with all that, I really like the GRII I have and for what I use it for, I could not really see me upgrading.

I'd certainly a welcome a 1" sensor system with interchangeable lenses, good controls and a decent EVF. I'm very taken with my G5X but if I could stick a nice 40mm equivalent lens on it, or a telephoto I'd like it even more!

That would have been where the GXR would have ended up playing had it not been killed by flawed logic. I had one and loved it, but the lensor concept was not a good idea.
