Assignment in the rain . . . advice?

Well, this promises to be interesting. For the third year, I held my hand up to photograph the "Kettle Kickoff" for the Salvation Army in Troy, NY.

Peeking ahead to Saturday on www.wunderground.com , it looks like 90% chance of rain just when the event starts. Of course, a lot can change between now and then.

Assuming it comes off, I plan to use the OMD EM5 with 12-50 as my main camera with the OMD EM5 II with 14-150 II in a shoulder bag as back up. I will also have with a plastic bag with a hole cut for the lens in case there is a deluge. I'm going with the 12-50 because it zooms internally, which ought to offer less opportunity for water intrusion.

Thoughts and advice gratefully accepted.

Cheers, Jock

Fuji XP120 works great for that. Nothing exposed and nicely water resistant. Barring that, you may have seen my reviews on the OpTech Rain Sleeves in the GAS thread and elsewhere. They sell a small size that will fit your Olympus setup nicely.

Always carry a small, soft, cotton towel in your back pocket. Always. They come in handy for just about anything you can think of. The camera and lens you plan on using are perfect for that kind of weather.
