I think I'm at the precipice of giving up "real" cameras for my cel phone camera (for most uses), but the one big thing holding me back is transfer of photos. Maybe I'm just not thinking of something very simple.

If I take a simple photo of the dogs and want to share it with my wife, I understand I can email or attach it to a message. But I'd like it to replace my camera for basic product photography.

Without a "card" to take out and transfer the images to my computer, is there a simple, quick and easy to transfer a couple hundred photos from a phone to a computer?

I use Google Photos. It's set to suck the photos up once it's on a wireless network. It takes both the raw and jpg versions and I can select which folders to back up in this way. I never take the card out of the phone or transfer by cable. I've done all the SiJ with my CM1 either processing in Snapseed in camera and posting direct or pulling off the cloud down to my desktop for a bit more processing and posting from there.

Simples.

I hadn't thought of that...I'm VERY late to the smart phone game. But then they're still not really on my computer.

When I do an ebay listing, the interface opens a dialog box for me to select a photo for my listing. As far as I can tell, it needs to be on the device I am using....whether that is a phone or a computer. And I'm cool with replacing my camera with a telephone, but there's no way I'm listing items on eBay with all the typing that involves on a telephone.

I wonder if there is a way of backing up from the phone to a cloud service and backing that up my computer?

Is it simple enough to pull a hundred photos down from the cloud?
Simple, yes, but quick? - depends on your internet connection. For Apple, it all works automagically via iCloud. I take a photo with my iPhone and within minutes it's on my Macbook (as long as I have wifi enabled on the iPhone of course!).
For non-Apple folks I would go along with Bill's suggestion of Google Photos.

well, I guess since I purchased a Google phone, by default it set itself up to automatically back-up to google photos....so everything I shoot is there. Now I just need to learn how to do mass downloads and I'm good to go. Thanks all for helping an old man who loathes technology.

If you have a PC and an Android phone you just connect the two with a USB cable and copy/paste the files from the DCIM directory.
On a Mac you do need a driver I believe. The mentioned AirDroid might be what you need, don't remember...

didn't even THINK about that possibility. That sounds right up my alley....which means changing my workflow as little as possible.

When you are on the Google Photos site using a PC and web browser, every photo has a gray-marked check-box above and to the left. Select that, and keep selecting for all the photos you want. Then in the upper right of the web site itself, there is a vertical row of three dots - click on that once - you will get a cascade menu. One of the options is download. If you selected Multiple files, they will all be consolidated into a single WinZip file - and it usually defaults to C:\User\(your account name on PC)\Downloads\Photos.zip. Move that file to wherever you want, double-click it (Windows should be able to open a Zip file natively) and save the contents to wherever you like.
