I just ordered these color-changing silica gel packets to put in ziplock bags with lenses and other gear that I want to stay dry. I like these because they'll change color to let me know when they're saturated and need to be replaced.

I feel Luke's pain because I have had the same problem. I have my basket permanently stuffed with tat from 99p up to a tenner at all times for just such an eventuality. That monocular is one of my standbys - I have the fishbone QRP already

well seeing it in use doesn't help me understand the why of it.

What is the reason for an additional piece of gear to go between the camera and the tripod? Obviously I'm missing something here....and likely because I rarely use a tripod.

What it is, is a teeny-tiny Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate - the very smallest I have seen. It fits any compatible camera or camera baseplate, such as the one on my X-Pro2 shown here. On the equally tiny Minox table-top tripod also shown here it provides a firm mount and the benefits of quick release all in one, while fitting into the palm of a very small hand. Ideal, as they say, for the travelling photographer. I rarely use a tripod either (although I am taking steps to rectify that, which includes the kit in the pictures).

I get it now. The quick release (rather than unscrewing the tripod from the camera) is the main selling point, and the smallness is the tertiary selling point. I may get one of these, but it also appears in your photo like you have something else attached to the base of the X-pro there....is that piece also necessary?

Thats the Fuji dedicated handgrip for the X-Pro2. It does have a tripod socket, and slots for access to the battery compartment. The X-Pro baseplate isn't Arca Swiss compatible per se. That said I bought it for the grip not the bottom

And again, pardon my staggering ignorance, but what exactly does Arca Swiss mean. Is it some sort of interlocking standard?

How much extra would u need to spend to cover the delivery? That would give u more choice.
