I'll keep looking for the original photo...this is a tiny section of it. But muzee is the winner. It is a basil leaf from a little basil plant in our kitchen window.

here's the original full frame in color with the tiny cropped bit highlighted.....I must admit that removing the color green did give it a very leather-like appearance.
