Film Fujifilm Instax's Are Selling Like Crazy

RT Panther

All-Pro
Was at my local brick n' mortar store & they were telling me that this took them by surprise! If they had a case in house, they would have sold out easy!:)

Probably because of the recent festive season (Christmas -> New Year - > Valentine's) as well. The Instax is great if you want to take a snapshot and pass it to friends or loved ones for keepsakes.

Hey All,

So I take it this is the competition for all the Polaroid model cameras you can buy? Any comparisons?

An example...

some are as low as $70.

I got one as a Christmas present 2 or 3 years ago. I wouldn't have bought one for myself but it was a bit of fun taking a few photos and then pinning the photos up on the corkboard or giving them to members of the family. I would love to have something like this when travelling so that you could take photos and give them to the locals, but even better would be a mobile printer that could print directly from an SD card.

I fell for Lomography's new Lomo.Instant - and I must say using it is a lot of fun. It's photography pure and simple, and getting a *good* image is far from simple. The Fuji Instax film is actually quite nice - good colour, surprising detail (though you'll need to get pretty close to take it all in). The usual distorted close-up portrait is *not* the only thing this camera and film are capable of - I use an additional flash for indoor work, but find outdoor shots with natural light the most rewarding (results can be enhanced by using a light meter - again, it's worth the extra effort). I wouldn't say this is a serious camera, far from it, but it's a very nice experience to shoot something so simple.

I think the Fujifilm Instax Classic Neo 90 would be the "best" camera on the market, but I'd actually recommend the Lomo ... Of course, the big film gives you even more compelling results - in theory. But you'd need a better camera for that than Fuji is offering (there are some to be had - but they're a lot more expensive).

You mean this? Amazon.com : Fujifilm Instax Share Smartphone Portable Printer SP-1 with Fujifilm Instax Mini Instant Film, 10 Sheets (5-Pack = 50 Sheets) : Camera & Photo

Not an SD card, but prints from a phone.

I had an Instax last Christmas (or the Christmas before??) It was a lot of fun. I might consider another one sometime.

Do you mean examples from the Instax cameras, or from the printers?
I'd forgotten about that thread, Bill. Now I remember.. Yes, I was wondering about the printers. Of course when one is as obsessive about "getting the look" to be the way I want it...I might be disappointed by the results..but heck, it's better than never getting around to printing at all!
